Steam users have spent $19 billion on games they’ve never played
  • I have over 500 titles in my backlog of shame (loads of freebies, but still shameful). If I play a new game every week, it'll take me 10 years to get through it.

What if some are absolute bangers and I sink 300+ hours in? I'll never be finished!

But what if none of them are? For 10 years I'd have slogged through a quagmire of mediocrity for nothing other than to tick a series of boxes.

  • Why do I puke more than once when I've been drunk?
  • Take a bag, fill it with water, and grip it loosely at the top so all your fingers wrap around like a loose fist.

Now, without turning the bag, use your other hand to empty it by squeezing out the water.

You get most of it out, but there's still some in there, even if you squeeze violently and it seems like nothing else can come out.

Also, for most of human history, if you've poisoned yourself ingesting something, chances are the next thing you're ingesting is still poisoned. It's only recently we've worked out distilled poison and purified water. So, biologically speaking, better to just be sick for a day so you can get to a different water/food source.

  • A cool guide on emailing like a boss
  • Because so much of that would put you off if you were on the receiving end.

As a human person, when a human person is on the other end, I do my best to be kind, empathetic, forgiving, and accommodating.

When some asshole wants to try and swing his dick around in an email, my instinct is "fuck that guy"

  • A cool guide to staying calm (without any hacks)
  • I think maybe just get rid of the bogus ones like "sleep" and "take a day off".

Everything else you can do with a little time and effort. Most people with 30 minutes can't opt to sleep in that time, that'd just be 30 minutes of laying down letting your brain try to make up the activity. And even fewer people can afford to say "I'm not coming in to work today"!

  • Star Wars Fans Seem to Be Review-Bombing the Wrong 'Acolyte'
  • Book of Boba Fett would have been a decent Star Wars story if it was the Book of Bib Fortuna seizing power.

Boba Fett was saved by Tuscans, but spends the whole show talking about protecting "his people", the city folk.

It's like if James Bond was left for dead and rescued by Navajo, then became sheriff of Albequerque and needed to keep the streets clean for the saloon and "his people".

It's not the character we know, and it doesn't even make sense as a character arc!

  • Conservatism is Brain Damage
  • "Conservitism" to them is synonymous with capitalism first and foremost. In their dichotomy, everything that isn't that is communism and therefore (since big communist regimes are fascist) fascist.

  • Surf Dracula®
  • Which is a shame because if you look at the source material (a single issue comic from 1973 where he battles King Triton in Atlantis to free the Bikini Lesbians) you really need to understand the history of the surfboard to fully appreciate his character.

  • President Biden announces a series of tariffs on green energy products from China.
  • Don't worry about it! Some intrepid American entrepreneur will simply begin producing American EVs immediately.

If modern politics has taught us anything, all you need to do is drop-kick the first domino and the Free Market will do exactly what you want it to do every time with zero follow-up. Society is completely linear like that.
