Switching to Debian on my gaming pc
  • My desktop has been Debian testing since Jessie. I was inconvenienced a total of 2 times where something broke and made an app unuseable. My KDE menu was fixed within a day and my torrenting app took longer to fix, but I was able to apply a one line fix in the meantime with help from our awesome community.

I know it's named "testing", but I'd bet it would be very stable for most people's use cases and trade off is absolutely worth it if people would give it a try.

Interview with Sheldon Souray – Dropping the Gloves – Podcast

    Oilers talk starts at 29:26

    • He had a lot going on in his personal life, and that contributed to Edmonton as a choice.
    • Did not take the highest offer when he joined the Oilers.
    • One of the other teams was an East coast team that had a lot of Russians and he didn't like the team culture.
    • MacT, on first meeting Sheldon, criticised him in front of the whole team for not being ready for training camp. Souray had just had surgery and wasn't healthy for training camp. MacT put extra pressure on him which could have contributed to further injuries.
    • Tom Renney told him to fight Iginla, and he broke his hand during the fight.
    • After the surgery, he got a staph infection that was life threatening. While trying to recover, he's being accused of milking an injury.
    • He says he was done being an Oiler after one season, but wanted to try his best to enter season two playing well so he could get traded.
    • He had a story about Pat Quinn back stabbing him. The two had a conversation, but Quinn then had a press conference and threw him under the bus.

I get the feeling that this a "he said, she said" type of situation, but the rumours about how bad the Oilers organization was really fits well with Sheldon's version of events.

What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • In one case, it was under warranty but heavily disputed and it took a lot of posturing to get the work done.

In the other case, insurance took care of it, but flooring that would have been covered by insurance would not match the rest of the area, so the owners decided to renovate a lot more than they wanted to.

To me, the pain of having to live through the repairs/renovations is enough to make me vigilant of water leak issues.

  • What is an item below 100 bucks that everyone should own?
  • Water sensor alarms.

If you have any doubts about the pipes in your house or have a feeling that water might enter your basement, sensors will help you sleep at night.

Water damage to your home is no joke. I know two separate homeowners who have had leaks from their refrigerator's plumbing (water and ice dispenser). The damage for each homeowner was quite extensive given how small the leak was.

  • Daryl Katz names Jeff Jackson Oilers CEO of Hockey Operations (Jackson was McDavid's agent)
www.nhl.com RELEASE: Daryl Katz names Jeff Jackson Oilers CEO of Hockey Operations | Edmonton Oilers

Jackson will report directly to Katz and serve as an Alternate Governor on the NHL Board of Governors, overseeing all aspects of OEGSE's NHL, AHL and WHL hockey operations

RELEASE: Daryl Katz names Jeff Jackson Oilers CEO of Hockey Operations | Edmonton Oilers

I listened to media availability on oilersplus.com. I'll include my notes of stuff I thought was interesting. OEG will usually post the video up later on their youtube channel.

    • He said that Paul Coffee helped talk him into it.
    • A lot of the earlier questions were about "how do we keep Connor" and he answered in a general way, but shared a good personal story about Connor.
    • He said would not have accepted a CEO job anywhere else, only for the Oilers.
    • He mentioned that they're getting pretty close to signing Bouch.
    • Holland was asked about Nicholson, where Kenny pointed to Tim who spoke off mic, all I could make out was that he would be shifted to "Special Advisor".

All CEOs kind of sound the same, but I already like this guy way more than Bob Nicholson.

  • When I was younger, I quit Bioshock when I ran into a Big Daddy that I just could not kill. The difficulty was on normal and I refused to change it to easy out of stubbornness. In retrospect, I think I missed a very cool gaming experience because of that.

I'm just now playing Prey (2017) on story mode, not respecting any of the enemies at all, and still having a really good time. On the flip side, if Elden Ring had the ability to adjust difficulty level, I think it would ruin the game.
