I didn't know about the web interfaces of Invidious instances. Definitey looks cool, and this redicrect domain is handy to quickly find a working instance.

Still, FreeTube has a couple of major advantages. One is that even if your go-to Invidious instance becomes unusable, your local FreeTube configuration (subscriptions, blocks, ricings, you name it) remains 100% in effect, because FreeTube just picks a different instance. Even when Google again makes all Invidious instances dysfunctional, FreeTube may still be usable by accessing YouTube directly. Also, FreeTube likely has A LOT more options—the settings page is quite sizeable. Finally, I find it increasingly nice that it's a standalone client separate from your browser. It makes it more deliberate to start watching videos, so that I'm less likely to go on senseless watching sprees; and conversely, when I'm watching useful videos, I'm less likely to interrupt them by going to some irrelevant website.

They're all innovating hard to bring us even better ink cartdridge DRM.

There is forum software that's integrated in the fediverse. Most often I've heard about NodeBB, which is open source and one can self-host it for free; there is even a YunoHost package.

What hardware do you currently use and what software do you intend to run on the new machine? And what's your budget situation?

In any case, I would always recommend to buy used or refurbished hardware. Even if it's not necessary financially, it's better for the environment.

I think it's usually one's own IP, unless one makes use of the setting to either use Invidious or TOR or another proxy. The invidious instances themselves may also hide themselves from Google behind a proxy.

I haven't personally experienced FreeTube breaking yet, but below a crosspost, someone commented that Google manages to break it every couple of weeks. Enjoy it whenever it works, I guess.

As an aside, I know that GPT partition tables likewise come with a backup header at the end of the disk. Whether LUKS encrypted devices also have backup headers, I don't know, but it doesn't seem so. So, my fellow LUKS users, perhaps you would like to run the following:

Some thoughts (as someone from Germany): There is a way in which wins like this can turn into disasters for socialism: if he wins the mayoral election, but then fails to build the administrative platform that he would need to succeed in his tasks. New Yorkers should not take for granted that he will be able to improve things just because of the powers of the office. There's a provision that says the trust structure can be changed without everyone's consent if the intended change is in the interest of all trustees.
