I guess if we're going to have First Past The Post voting then we can at least do what UKIP did and use the threat of protest votes to sway the ruling party further in the direction we want to see them go. It doesn't bode well for the polarisation that has occurred though, and so we will slide further to the extremes like we see across the pond until someone in a position to change the voting system puts country over party.
