  • I know Lemmy is about to take off because the porn is quickly moving from drawn henti and furry images to gonewild onlyfan contributors. I call it the QOTP Index (Quality Of The Porn). Reddit is done.
  • Fun fact, you can actually tell how the economy is doing based off sex workers tips and income. It's actually more reliable than any other financial marker.

  • Why do we use base 60 for time and base 10 for everything else. Why has no one decided to integrate it.
  • You can blame the babalonians for that. They have a 60 base number system and was used for time and dates.

  • I came from days of dialup and gone through yahoo groups, Myspace, tons of geocity sites, ask jeevs, LiveJournal, and so on. Sites will only be an attraction tell something comes that offers more. With federation and decentralized systems coming up, the hold on people and corporations trying to use you as a commodity will only tarnish the shine that it once was. When companies hold a noose around your neck thinking there isn't another option, telling you to go ahaid and jump, thinking no one will and when something comes by that makes the jump just a step down and you can take off the noose, there is nothing that they can hold onto anymore. They cannot say you have nowhere else to go. With the choice around in a federated system, you cannot be held hostage by a single entity. When people have the freedom of choice, the people win.

  • Does anyone remember how when email first became available you had to pay per message?
  • I remember hearing about it but have not experienced it myself but certainly remember SMS charged per message.

  • What was the first modem you ever had? How fast was it?
  • My first was 28.8 Hayes but was limited to 9800 cause of Telxon audiocopler. I also had a USR PCMCIA card that was 56k(? My memory is slipping cause of long covid) and somehow that was able to connect faster through Telxon audiocopler.

  • How did I miss SDF for this long?
  • Hiya! I am new as well! I just got approved today and am so excited as well.

  • Hello world! - Please introduce yourself here
  • Hello World! I just got approved today and have been getting use to how it is here and rest of the federated Lemmy. I'm an exile from Reddit and I knew of SDF for quite a while but it took the push from Reddit to come over and sign up for the ssh and Lemmy. So far I am glad to be here and am planning to make ARPA payment when I get my check.

Also if anyone has interesting suggestions or places in the federated Lemmy, let me know. I'm still getting use to here.
