Who the fuck are you talking to that is saying, "oh, well, both sides, you know?" The only people I know who are still saying that are people who are wealthy enough to not feel the immediate effects of Trump, or are conservative, white, christian assclowns who voted for Trump. Why are you talking to those kinds of people for an honest read on the US? Those people are part of the reason we're here now.
Note: unfortunately these are all on PC and don't have couch coop unless specified otherwise. I also don't think they have DRM aside from normal steam stuff (or require an internet connection for actual gameplay purposes), but any steam DRM should be easy to remove.
Warframe: space ninjas: the game (though it does require an online connection since it's basically a coop mmo, and it is third-person as opposed to first-person)
Payday: basically cops vs robbers. You're the robbers.
Killing Floor: Lodesemone! Dosh! Grab it while you can, lads! Money, money, money! Coop zombie survival. I hope you love blood and gore.
Abiotic Factor: what if you were a scientist in the Black Mesa GATE Cascade Research Facility and you had to survive? Can be played single player or multiplayer.
Halo: MCC: Halo already has a reputation for being the ultimate coop shooter. The MCC adds and expands coop for the games; however the PC version lacks split-screen. This can supposedly be added back with a mod, but I haven't tried it so I can't attest to how functional it is.
I've heard Sven Coop is really good if you like Half-Life stuff. It's a coop Half-Life mod.
Risk of Rain 2: technically third-person, but a very good coop shooter.
There's a mod for that now, so you don't have to do the Nucleus Coop bullshit. I haven't tried it, so I dunno how well it works, but ye.
Fyi, afaik Halo MCC supports 2 player coop on Halo: CE, and 4 player coop on the other games. That said, they removed split-screen on the PC version. Supposedly they keep saying they'll add it back eventually but, well, "eventually" has yet to happen.
That said, I've read there's a mod for native split screen now so you don't have to do the awkward Nucleus Coop stuff. I haven't tried it though, so ymmv.
Damn, you must be a pretty shallow-minded person to miss the fact that the culture war is perpetuated by the rich to keep us from working together. Racism, religious institutions, sexism, queerphobia, these are tools that the rich and powerful use to keep us divided. When you allow them to wage a culture war unopposed, you are letting them use their ideological "weapons of war" without retaliation.
And no, this isn't just about wanting to be called a woman. This is about being made illegal for who I am. I can't fight against the wealth gap if I'm in prison for having tits and a dick, now can I? I can't fight against the wealth gap if I'm struggling from derealization, depersonalization, dissociation, and suicidal depression brought about by crippling dysphoria as a result of being unable to access estrogen, now can I?
If I dared to suggest we prioritize reducing the disparity in wealth over fighting a culture war, you people immediately assume I'm an enemy.
No, because doing one means doing the other. Who do you think is waging the culture war in the first place?
Personally, as a trans person, I don't want your loyalty. I don't care about your loyalty. We don't know one another at all so I don't even know if you're someone I'd actually want to hang around; and I'm not gonna ask for loyalty from a total stranger.
What I want is for you to act like a decent human being and understand that the culture war is part of a much larger war about wealth inequality; and that you're going to struggle if you allow your allies to slowly get picked off by the ones waging the war in the first place. If that occurred then the best you could hope for would be a pyrrhic victory that leaves you asking, "we won, but at what cost?"
Here's an article on the two bills that got voted out in Montana: https://www.erininthemorning.com/p/powerful-speeches-from-trans-dems
Most of the anti-trans legislation is as bad or worse; Texas has a couple nutjobs trying to make being trans illegal as a whole.
They can't see that attacks on trans rights are also attacks on cis rights. I think that's part of the reason why Rep. Zoey Zephyr and Rep. SJ Howell were so effective at stopping a couple pieces of anti-trans legislation in Montana yesterday. They talked about the fact that the legislation would potentially effect cis people as well as the fact that it'd take "parental rights" away from parents. They also did it in a way that created a narrative which both cis and trans people can identify with, creating a common ground to further convince people that the legislation was wrong. And it was successful. They got a number of Republican lawmakers to switch sides, despite the fact that the GOP prides itself on being in lockstep. They even had a Republican lawmaker make a stand too, saying that the people introducing this legislation were basically just wasting everyone's time.
People say, "trans rights are human rights" and they're serious. We embody the extreme of gender non-conformity that cis people occasionally dabble in, and when you start taking away our rights, you start taking away cis rights too.
It makes me sad that I was born in a country that doesn't give a fuck about the environment when I read things like this. I'd love to do projects like this for a living, but... no, wrong country lmao.
Edit: lemme know when a place like Norway takes trans refugees from the US. I'd love to spend my time walking in forests and building birdhouses.
What is the image equivalent of analog horror? 'cause this is giving me those kinda vibes.
Yeah. It's one of the few things the Bible is fairly consistent about, along with golden calf/bronze bull imagery. I'm pretty sure there's a historical religious explanation for why the Bible consistently referenced gold/bronze cattle, but I find it fascinating and kinda sad that they're so blatantly worshipping something that the Bible consistently says is wrong. Like, there's a lot of stuff in the Bible where it says one thing and then later says, "actually, wait, just kidding lol"; but it consistently talks about not worshipping idols while using cattle imagery.
Yeah, uh, last I checked American territories don't have the ability to vote in federal elections. Someone from Puerto Rico can't vote for the US president despite being governed by the US. It's one of many bullshit systems designed to keep the GOP-Democrat right-wing ratchet going.
Contrary to that Europe doesn't have one cohesive identity, your example of Orban is multiple country borders removed from me personally.
Orban would probably be best compared to a state governor. Just a reminder that Texas is literally larger than the largest EU country with some space leftover for a city-state or two.
The idea that the US has a cohesive identity is just... unbelievably ignorant. I'm actually amazed that you believe that considering that no one in their right mind would say the same thing about places like Africa, Europe, or South America.
I didn't have a choice to be born here, and, had I had the option, I wouldn't have defaced a Native American monument in the first place. This is on top of the fact that the US is currently trying to find ways of disowning/executing me (trans).
Quite honestly, maybe I shouldn't be offended by being lumped in with other Americans, because maybe I'm not actually being included in these kinds of sweeping statements. However, it rubs me the wrong way when people imply that Americans as a whole are responsible for the things our government has and is doing.
Again, I didn't ask to be born in the US. I don't like that I'm "American". No one asked me, please don't lump people like me in with the others.
If his wife is okay with it, who cares?
Well yes! You stupid leftists don't have the right to live a comfortable life, free from criticism and accountability like us right-wingers. We're the ones who are right, it's right there in the name, "right-wing". As such, anyone that might cause us discomfort, such as breaking ties or criticizing the ones who we support, is espousing a disgusting, ignorant, liberal ideology.
(I hope it's obvious that I'm being sarcastic)
I mean, they have closed caption devices you can borrow. They fit into the cupholder and display captions for you.
I'm gonna have to go through his profile and see if that's true at some point. If so, that's very disappointing. I woulda thought that a furry, of all people, would understand why gatekeeping is a bad thing.
The understanding that you really are just a flesh bag hurtling through space and the only way to make it better is to help others.
God, Cruelty Squad goes so fucking hard. I fully recommend it.
Another image since I stumbled across it while looking up that pic:
Honestly, the fact that so many people are just... normal... is a huge contributor to my derealization.
Like, what the fuck?
All the people in my little bubble, whether they're friends, family or biological family, have been through shit. The result is that we have a lot of weird quirks and neurosis that we either end up working through or incorporating into who we are. Everyone else though... it's like we're in color while the rest of the world is in black and white. It's bizarre and weird and unsettling and makes me wonder sometimes how many of those people are real.
Are we getting Truman Show'd or something?
Then, god forbid you interact with them because then they act like they have no personality and it makes the feeling of derealization worse. And they can't empathize with you because they haven't been through shit. And when you try to tell them, "dude, I have experience going through shit, I know what it's like" they think you're being hyperbolic. The worst thing that's ever happened to them is a car wreck which made them feel so upset they considered suicide, but then they took a deep breath, realized they could just call the insurance company, and that ultimately, it really wasn't that bad. So when you try to tell them that you experienced 10 yrs of suicidal depression as the result of untreated gender dysphoria they just kinda think that you must be exaggerating.
Sorry, this went from "normal people make me question reality" to venting about how normal people can't empathize. It's just... Weird.
Personally? My country wants me dead. "Oh but claim refugee status at the border" yeah, that don't work if you're coming from the US. The US is considered a safe harbor by Canada for LGBT people.
Let that sink in a moment. Canada still considers the US to be a safe harbor for people who are LGBT, and so explicitly (unless something changed literally in the past couple months) blocks refugees from the US.
