What first name do you hate the most and why?
  • My own first name Mark, Firstly it is supposed to be spelled Marc as according to my mother I was named after Marc Bolan but they wrote it with a K on the birth certificate. Secondly it just doesn't feel like it suits me, I have no idea what alternative I would pick though. Maybe I just don't feel comfortable being called by my name no matter what it is :)

  • What's something that you hate about all (or most) people?
  • That's a great example, I was prompted by the Fluke Skywalker stuff going on, But there are plenty of times when people who are famous for something are found to fall short. Then you get this outpouring of grief and disappointment, It happens enough that people should know better really.

  • ‘I just assumed it would happen’: the unspoken grief of childless men
  • I'm 47 and without kids, I was always indifferent to them and decided if I got with somebody who wanted one then it would happen, Once my sisters had kids I lost any remaining interest in the idea, I don't think I would be a good dad as a result of my indifference. My Mrs is very much not interested in them either, Not a good environment for a kid to grow up in I feel. Sometimes people think it's ok to ask why not, For me that question isn't a problem but I can understand how it might be a massive problem for those who wanted them and for whatever reason didn't get any.

I am slightly surprised by a quarter though, Had you asked me before I would have said a few percent tops...

  • Kevin Underwood - Put his “dangerously weird” thoughts on the internet into reality by murdering his 10-year-old neighbor with a cutting board
  • Purcell Police Chief David Tompkins stated that Bolin's murder was the culmination of Underwood's fantasy to "kidnap a person, rape them, torture them, kill them, cut off their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse then dispose of the organs and bones."

    Blimey!

  • What distro(s) do you use?
  • Just Ubuntu. I have tried plenty of others but Ubuntu just seems to tick most boxes for me.

EDIT: I am looking forward to the new Pop! when it comes out, I will surely give it a try, No idea if I will switch then though.

  • What do you like to do on vacation?
  • We usually go to a city somewhere and just explore, soak up the culture etc, We usually try to go on an adventure, Like when we went to Iceland in the winter and hired a car to drive round, That was fun, I just like to have a lot to remember and talk about when I return. I try not to visit the same place twice, Though I did go to Moscow twice as the Mrs wanted to go the second time.

  • Feature request - button to block community from 'all' scrolling panel
  • I would also like to see this, Browsing ALL exposes me to new stuff but I have a few things I just don't want to see, Like Sports, US Politics and foreign language ones that I can't read, A button would be great :)

  • Can you drive a manual transmission?
  • British, Yes, Most people here can, In fact in my 47 years I have only met 2 people who had automatic only licences. And I ran a garage for 7 years so met a lot of drivers. I have personally only owned manuals and haven't done more than 100 miles in Automatics.

  • Leaked Zoom all-hands: CEO says employees must return to offices because they can't be as innovative or get to know each other on Zoom
  • 3/4 of the team I am on work from home, 2 of us full time, We have weekly scheduled meetings with no agenda other than to catch up and this is where ideas can come up, We haven't all been in an office together since before the lockdown yet we continue to thrive. I also have most of each Friday blocked out to work with one of the team on whatever he happens to be working on that day. We just jump in a meeting and do stuff. And like you we are all open to just spontaneous chats at any time either by text or call. It works perfectly well.

I guess you also have those chats where you pull other people in during the conversation, Oh, Suchandsuch will have input, send them an invite to this meeting etc :)

I love it, I get peace and quite when needed to code, and all the interaction I need to make the job work.

  • They are often quite old... http://www.historicdoors.co.uk/blog/englands-building-age-infographic/

The older ones (Like the one I am selling) are built like big heat sinks, The intention is that you always have the coal fire burning in the day I think and the whole building stays warm over night. However in the very warm weather we get now these houses are not so great.

    I painted my Skyline.

I have done a lot to this car over the last year, It started with me removing the rear subframe and fuel tank to do some welding. I am now going through every detail so it all works as it should.

I put all new suspension on Tein Flex with adjustable damping and ride height, The paint is Firenza red, As you can see my garage is not big so it's hard to paint cars in there.

There was a post about a lack of posts here so I will post my other two projects as well.
