Ah, so some websites and apps will employ methods of data collection to learn things about you and then either use that information to feed you ads or sell it to other companies (or both). A lot of us prefer to keep what we can private and not be tracked so thoroughly.
Companies will build profiles on you that learn your likes, dislikes, political leanings, relationship status, gender, race, health issues, etc etc.
Even if some people are fine with being tracked another issue is that many companies have poor security and your data can be stolen in breaches by bad actors or sold to bad actors.
Threads big and scary. Smol bois in the Fediverse have been discussing preemptively defederating from Threads due to how big and scary it is in an attempt to protect themselves and the Fediverse as a whole.
Edit: Connect was my favorite until i realized its absolutely riddled with trackers. RIP. Currently trying Wefwef but ill probably come back to Jerboa.
Efficiency benefits never get passed to the worker. When effeciency improves the worker is eliminated to keep workload "optimum" (from the company's perspective) and reduce costs.
Automate what you can of your job and never, ever share those productivity hacks with your boss.
New users is not a good metric. Many people will create accounts just to check it out even if they dont stay.
I've made multiple Lemmy accounts on different servers.
But with artificial intelligence-powered large language models like Microsoft-backed ChatGPT and Google's Bard, a massive corpus of conversations is being hoovered up. And in return, Reddit receives very little, he said.
If they take our content and build businesses on it, that's an issue," Huffman said. "If they build businesses such that people come to Reddit less, that's an issue."
"Our content" my ass. This is the same as the CEO thinking they're entitled to the fruits of your labor.
This argument is the same as "Lemmy=tankies".
So i guess were all tankies because were on here.
