A hit like Coca-Cola: The cannabis industry generates $40 billion
  • Fortunately it's decriminalized where I am. No one actually cares unless it's a heinous amount. Still tho, it's grounds for eviction, piggies sniffing about, nosy neighbors... Til it's a bit more safe to do so, I'll stick with buying whatever's available, a bit less fortunately.

  • Neverminding the evidence to the contrary.
  • This is the way. Slow, incremental changes that are sustainable. It's how you change your life, it's how we've changed society. Nothing happens overnight. Going from eating meat daily to having a vegetarian night a week is a win, celebrate it.

  • Neverminding the evidence to the contrary.
  • Point being that there is land that is capable of raising livestock and not crops. If you broaden the number of people eating exclusively plants, you need more farmable land, and while that may be possible in the long run, it's not without some significant change. A more practical solution is to reduce where possible, and make slow changes that don't completely uproot ways of life.

  • Night Club [Safely Endangered]
  • If it were a fight club, they'd be perfectly dressed in... Pretty much anything, so if it WAS fight club, the guard is just being a guard. At least that's how I'd interpret their comment.

  • UH OH!
  • Por que no los dos?

Ostensibly yeah, the product being offered is a search engine. Realistically, the product being offered is a combination of your data, and your eyes/attention.

  • A new smartphone again? Rethink unhealthy culture of frequent upgrades
  • I get where you're coming from, and maybe I was just lucky, but holy hell my note 10+ was a TANK despite the reach around screen. Miss that phone already, I got talked into swapping when I moved and had to change Internet not long ago. A month after having my pixel 7 pro, and one fall from the edge of my desk onto the carpet, and the bottom half of the screen shits itself lol

  • I love being a Millennial. Being a Millennial is great. Being a Millennial doesn't make me yearn for death. 2000$ to exist is a steal
  • I'll take the bait! I definitely wouldn't say renting is BETTER, but your comment definitely exposes some privileged views. Not everyone has the skills, competency, time, or cash on hand to manage their own repairs. There's also other advantages to renting. Most obviously is the fact that it's a lot easier to move - signing a new lease is so much less of a hassle than dealing with all of the things involved with selling and buying a home. This was somewhat mitigated by having equity, but right now it can take 5-10 years to have positive equity in a home.

Don't get me wrong, the article is absolutely dystopian, dude's paying 1400 a month for a shoebox. There is a lot that's ridiculous about his situation, but to throw out all of the actual advantages renting can have is as disingenuous of a take as if I were to say buying is a gamble. Call it copium, or say I'm a cuck, whatever but it's definitely not a clear-cut victory on either side

Edit: motivated -> mitigated. Thanks autocorrect.
