  • That’s fair. I know with video games it got to the point where people would make fun of people who would call games they liked “hidden gems”. Like, just because it’s not Pokemon or Call of Duty doesn’t mean it’s some niche game no one has played before…

  • I think you misinterpreted what I wrote? I’m not saying people SHOULD reduce their food spending, i’m saying they’ve been kind of forced to, and so in effect that’s why prices are going down. So it IS a supply and demand effect of some kind.

  • I’m not saying that, I’m going back and saying it IS a sort of supply and demand effect we’re seeing. People aren’t spending in ways the corporations wanted, so now they’re finally lowering some prices. That’s all.

  • Sure, at the basic level, everyone needs food. But you can get a lot more granular about it. For example, a lot of people buy things they may not need to survive, like snacks/desserts. Or perhaps they do buy items they need, but they usually get versions that cost more (whether that be because the particular store is more expensive overall, or simply because they’re buying items that are more costly than things at the lowest end that still allow you to survive like beans and rice).

The point is, most (not ALL) people can buckle down their food spending in some way or another, and I think that’s what we’re seeing here.

  • They were a little too far away to tell them without basically shouting, but in hindsight I probably should have done so. I was just so dumbfounded at how selfish and unaware of their surroundings they were.

  • The first type are the worst. Encountered one of those the other day when shopping. They just left their shopping cart next to the conveyor belt at checkout, literally blocking me from pushing mine forward so i could load up the belt. I nudged it a little, but they didnt react. Then suddenly, the cashier asked if a jar of peanut butter at the end of the belt was theirs. They were like “oh, yes it is”.

I thought they would grab it and also see that they left their cart in my way, and move it. Nope they grabbed the PB and handed it to the cashier, finished checking out, and left with all their shit in bags, sans cart. Absolutely ridiculous!

  • Don’t worry, neurotypicals live life on such an easy mode that they invent the most insane problems for themselves as some sort of handicap. It’s so frustrating watching them sometimes. “Wahh I don’t want to commit to my significant other! Wahh I’m bored so I think I’ll do some drugs! UGH my SO bought a $900 TV so I better buy something expensive too to get back at them!”
