I didn't say they are "all hype", I said they are "all the hype". I agree they are useful, but over hyped.
LLMs are all the hype but there are plenty of solid computer science projects. Some options that come to mind:
- Your own DB engine
- Your own game engine (you can put a cool twist on it - I had a thought of making a game in non-euclidean 3D space)
- Your own <insert network protocol> client/server Etc...
A more general option is to look for free APIs and use that is base for ideas.
What topics do you find interesting?
OMG I just realized I can use other people's code so I don't have to write all of it myself.
Jokes aside, cool project!

I don't get it
I think you might be right. Imagine a fediverse app that allows content creators to self-host videos. They get the generated revenue directly instead of going through the website, they get paid in direct relation to how many videos they serve, and when I see an ad there, I know I am effectively paying the content creator.
Stop! You're making me blush 🤭
I am a simple man. I see martin fowler, I click.
I love that when they explain the word "rizz" they give a list of possible nicknames for rizz-ful people
Exactly what I wanted to say. I understand teaching by example, but this is more like teaching by trial and error...
