  • If only standups were near as pleasurable as watching a comedy routine. No, Jim, we don't need to hear your day minute by minute. It isn't that hard, Jim, just keep it to the same length as everyone else, Jim. (Jim has since been talked to about this)

  • YouTube is experimenting with Notes, a crowdsourced feature that lets users add context to videos
  • Can confirm it is real, I have it installed right now via revanced, Grayjay, and Firefox extension.

Also, I have a terrible imagination, but that's OK, as it's open source and you can see how it's calculated on their github.

It takes the ration of likes to dislikes from users of the service, and applies that ratio to the total number of likes to estimate the total number of dislikes.

It also archived a lot of video's dislike counts before the dislike field was removed from the API.

As a user of the extension who knows how it works (no thanks to yourself), take it with whatever sized grain of salt you feel comfortable with.

  • Apple Reportedly Suspends Work on Vision Pro 2
  • I still don't understand how Windows got the PC name. A Mac is also a personal computer...

Also, apple isn't going to make it work with other OSs any more than they have their other products, not sure why you'd even list that.

  • We built a mean game to test AI's ability to apologise
  • Can confirm (via a insignifigant sample size anecdote)

We recently visited Canada, and not a populated part of it. Two lane highways to get everywhere. I think every single person with a Canadian license plate pulled over to let us pass at their earliest convenience when we came up behind them. No long line of cars. They pulled over just to let us pass. It was mind blowing, so fucking pleasant.

The sample size might be insignifigant, but I think I could count on one hand the amount of times that's happened while driving on two lane highways in America, something I've been doing for years. Everyone thinks they're driving the correct speed and you can fuck off if you think differently.

  • $335 espresso
  • Yeah that's a very editorialized version and I hate that it's the top comment.

Obviously the coffee isn't going to be 100x better or more unique than a normal espresso. The point of the video was not to "discover" this, and if that's all you got out of it, you missed the point.

  • Heathcliff without Heathcliff 6/17/2024
  • I JUST GOT IT

I see these posts all the time and I never understand what your motivation is or what the comics mean, so maybe this is a complete wooosh on my part, but let me explain.

The comic in the comment I'm replying to comes first. The cat is wearing the bro apron thing and the fish parrot bro. In the comic in the post the fish are saying bra instead of bro. Some woman walked past the tank in a bra I guess

However bras don't say "BRA" across the chest, so it still doesn't even make sense in the context of these fish parroting things they see on peoples' chests.

Edit: I have done research. I now find these posts hilarious. I'm thinking I was definitely a bit wooshed but also am correct about the "joke."

  • I'm convinced watchOS 11 is hinting at an Apple Watch 10 with better battery life
  • Are they actually that bad still? My OnePlus Watch 2 lasts multiple days on a charge, and I keep it topped off just by charging while I shower every 1-3 days. I don't even worry about it on my frequent two night camping trips. I kinda assumed Apple was in the same realm by now.

  • I'm convinced watchOS 11 is hinting at an Apple Watch 10 with better battery life
  • Battery life, sure, but functionality, nah. Apple is all about appearances, and a black/white screen running at 1fps isn't a good appearance.

Honestly even I wouldn't want an e-ink watch when there are other watches out there that get good battery life and have so much more functionality. My OnePlus Watch 2 gets me a few days. I only charge it when I shower and basically never have to worry about battery even on my frequent weekend camping trips.

  • Apple announced RCS with a whimper when it should have been a bang
  • I'm very confused about your setup tbh. Can you get a data plan that doesn't come with a phone number for your phone? Is that what's going on?

I do believe I've heard that Google messages (and therefor RCS) doesn't support dual Sim, which is absolutely bullshit. It's currently the same as a closed standard with empty promises for being open.

  • Apple announced RCS with a whimper when it should have been a bang
  • Yeah. I used Textra for years, and was confused why it was taking so long to get RCS. Finally decided to look it up and learning that it wasn't an open protocol yet. It's frustrating.

I have switched to Google messages, and it's been nice to text people who don't know enough about messaging to use a different app. It's only nice because Google's Messaging app is so commonly the default though.

It needs to be open and available in all apps that support SMS.

  • Fun to find an interesting use case for the MCM in the form of my on-the-go Aeropress caddy

Imgur: The magic of the Internet

The MCM arch holds the grinder handle in place which keeps it from flopping around, and keeps the grinder in the caddy. It's a really clean and easy solution for this unique problem.

I talk more about the caddy in this video if you're interested - Timestamped Link

On Friday a video will be out where I talk more about the final version (shown in the video attached to this post), but the function is quite similar, just with the correct measurements because measuring is hard...

I would be happy to share the STL, but I haven't yet as I figure not too many folks have the exact same aeropress setup as I do with the scale and grinder, and I'm lazy (but honest at least!)

    First multiplayer impromptu SteamDeck session.

I'm at a friend's house for the night and was invited to an among us group. Installed among us and discord, had everything working (after a restart) within 10 minutes. I was shocked that simply adding a keybind for mute/deafen just worked. Yet another "it's just a computer" moment. I'll have to get that discord overlay thing working at some point.

In addition, the mic seems to work pretty well without using headphones, though I can't hear myself obviously.

I wasn't considering upgrading to the OLED because I didn't use the device enough, but man, I might...

    Is quick reply missing?

I'm moving over from boost for reddit, and am missing the quick reply functionality. Am I just missing it, is it actually missing, and is it planned?

Loving the app so far, it's made the transition easy.
