  • DNS translates a domain name "example.com" to an ip address pointing to the server. It tells your browser how to reach the server. It is unlikely the reason.

the common way to detect your location is by checking your ip address. Usually there is a database (i.e. maxmind) that keeps a record of which ip address subnet belongs to which location.

you can do a check with a reverse ip geolocation lookup tool to verify this.

    so either:

    • the company haven't updated their database yet
    • your IP range was recently bought or rotated by your isp
  • But I also have no idea what all is possible with that kind of information in the aggregate

so does your mom and the general public. This idea and its impact is far too remote to people's day to day life.

    • "Yes, they can collect all they want, why should I care?"
    • "My data is too insignificant to be meaningful for anyone, LMAO, do you think I am some kind of a CEO?"

it may help to try coming out with a story or incident that they can relate to. then again most of the time these stories will sound like a conspiracy theory,

  • the idea of "do not track" is quite comical.

It assumes the other party to honour the request. It is as good as telling thieves not to open your door because you put up a "do not open".

The "Do not track" signal also became an additional attribute used for fingerprinting users.

  • i am using Reolink E1 Pro, set it up on my iot LAN (no internet), and connect it to home assistant.

"opensource compatible" - sort of, with onvif and rtmp*rtsp.

i suppose any camera with these two should work.

the initial setup requires the Reolink app tho, to enable onvif and rtmp

  • In agreement with tteck and Community-Scripts, this project has now transitioned into a community-driven effort. We aim to continue his work, building on the foundation he laid to support Proxmox users worldwide.

tteck, whose contribution has been invaluable, shared recently that he is now in hospice care. His scripts have empowered thousands, and we honor his legacy by carrying this project forward with the same passion and commitment. We’re deeply grateful for his vision, which made Proxmox accessible to so many.

To tteck: Your impact will be felt in this community for years to come. We thank you for everything.

  • I use my vr as my monitor everyday or to watch content. quite nice being able to have my screen follow me along when i go grab water from the kitchen.

also arbitrary screen configuration of arbitrary size and orientation.

  • Targeting a proprietary platform first

I hope they do better next time

if they want to support XR development, in your opinion how can they do better now?

is there a non-proprietary consumer standalone headset? If the answer to this is "no", are you suggesting that Godot shouldn't enter this space at all?

Actually the change is quite awesome: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/pull/96624/files. The implementation revolves around Android, not very specific to Meta ecosystem. Thus, it can be easily extended to the next XR device running Android.
