Human Shields - Eli Valley 2014
  • It's in the USA's geopolitical interest to maintain relations with Israel.

    1. It gives them a foothold in the middle east, on the coast of the Mediterranean sea. Egypt and Turkey have too much leverage for the USA to influence them, and the other allies are all past the red sea. Israel is smartening up to the situation and taking advantage.
    2. After the messy withdrawal from Afghanistan, other states saw weakness in the USA and their allies. They need to maintain their current allies to show that they can protect all of their other relations.

We won't get any resolution of the situation until after elections are over. If Biden does anything, it may negatively impact the Democrat's campaign.

    Welcome to c/truecomics
  • Back in reddit someone was posting comics from 100 years ago. Everette true always stood out and my group hates it when I send any to them. They have yet to know True terror.

  • Generate document from templates and database
  • I've been using ReportLabs to make pdfs in Python. It took some getting used to but I can put together just about anything I can imagine. I still get a little lost when I need to dig into the source code and how it generates pdfs from templates though.

Help! How to not kill these while moving them?
  • I'm fairly new to gardening but I would look into propagating them; the rose I know can be grown from a cutting. If you move them into one or move pots you can replant them with the new fence.

With propagation preserving the root structure doesn't matter since it'll grow new roots. If it's your first time I might try to make 2 or 3 cuttings of varying sizes in case some of them don't make it. You already have to cut it back anyway.

Edit: Grandma approved. Spring/Fall has the best chances for the cuttings to take root.

  • I recently read about JADAM organic farming which is about maximizing sustainability. I've only learned about it the day before, so I'm not sure what it is exactly but seems to fit people's general idea of organic farming. I'm still trying to find what they're trying to sell besides a few books.

  • Russia claims full control of Avdiivka after Ukrainian retreat
  • Massive swell of people to make any progress to have something to campaign with for Putin's re-election. Ukraine has been generally running low on artillery and can't fully capitalize on countering large unit offenses. The Ukrainians have a lot of western equipment but are low on funds to supply them.

  • Legends of Runeterra 2024 - State of the Game FAQ
  • They did have something similar to a draft mode. It's been a while since I played but you would build a deck from a series of options, usually 3 cards or 3 synergized subsets of cards, and this would repeat 15(?) times. Then when the deck is built you queue against other constructed decks.

People would just reset a run if their drafted deck didn't come together.

  • Dwarf Fortress Adventure Mode to be more approachable for new players
  • I've played hundreds of hours in RimWorld but was late on Dwarf Fortress. I dabbled before it came to steam and bought it as soon as it did. I'm waiting for adventure mode to really dip my toes into it to really see the world at large, an experience you couldn't get in RimWorld and the others.

  • Don't take it personally. Whenever I share pictures the first thing my friends and family comment on is how dirty my floor is or what I have on the counter. I have had to make a sterile area just to take pictures to share. I am sure it's the same for most other people. Ah sweet modernity!

GoFundMe Is a Boon for Disaster Survivors. Especially the Wealthy Ones. Campaigns on the crowdfunding site raised more money for wildfire survivors with high incomes than for those who need help most
  • The annual gift tax exclusion of $18,000 for 2024 is the amount of money that you can give as a gift to one person, in any given year, without having to pay any gift tax

If anyone is looking for the gift tax limit I got the above quote from https://smartasset.com/retirement/gift-tax-limits

This is more than I remember, but I think I'm confusing it with the $6000 limit for contributions to an IRA account. I think it went up to $7000 this year, but I digress.

  • I am using logSec, which has a lot of the same features and is Foss. I am primarily using the mobile app; and my mine gripe is not being able to drag around the nodes in the graph. Think it works fine in the desktop version.
