This one works in my company. If you have a ticket with no actionable items (you can't do anything to improve it or it is complete), then you use that lack of actionable items to make a timer to close it, or pressure the team you're waiting on.

Computers were not designed to roll over the year. This would have caused the dates to roll back to 1900 or some day in the past, breaking any logic doing math on dates.

The programming community made huge efforts to fix this problem, and they did across many sectors.

The fact that people don't understand how big of a deal this was is due to the efforts of those that did and were able to correct it.

The media talking about power outages and nukes launching due to Y2K was standard news hype/fear mongering during a crisis with rather boring (to the layman) causes and fixes.

Mr. Mr. Johnny Verbeck how could you be so mean? I told you you'd be sorry for inventing that machine. Now all the neighbors, cats, and dogs will nevermore be seen. They've all been ground into sausages in Johnny Verbeck's machine.

This isn't tax breaks, it is EPA economy vs passenger space rules meant to force automakers to develop more fuel efficient engines. Instead, automakers keep extending the cabs and wheelbase. That's why all the big trucks are super cabs with tiny beds.
