  • They are so cool. I just about bought that red and white one a few years ago, it reminded me of my Dad's old early 80s Seca a little bit, just had that kind of retro look to it. In hindsight I shoulda just bought the damn thing.

  • I actually have a SRAM NX Eagle on my Trek Rail right now. That thing eats derailleurs and hangers for breakfast, and the bike shop guy was like legit these are lasting a long time. Hes right btw, it's lasted, but it shifts so rough, like I've tasted the dark side and I want back in

  • The XTR was it though. I had an m8000 xt setup for awhile too, but that m9000 XTR setup, holy fuck. I actually had the m9000 setup first, and sold the bike with it on it, and regretted it ever since.

Even the m8000 xt, which my next bike had and honestly it was a pretty good setup too, but it never quite lived up to that m9 XTR setup. It cost me a fortune, like 1x11 was not even really a thing yet it was just coming out, but I ate shit and needed a new derailleur, and got my shop to pull some strings and get their hands on one. I'm not kidding I think the setup was well over a thousand bucks. But you have to trust me on this, it literally felt like butter. I've yet to witness another drive train since that was a smooth as that one. I laughed like a little school girl that first ride, I still remember it vividly (and that's over a decade ago now).

  • Thank you. I'm blessed to live in a beautiful place.

I was in the same boat as you, for a very very long time. There's always some excuse or some obstacle. It's almost better that way, because you'll appreciate it more when you get yours, trust me on that.

  • Yeah it's kind of a cool feeling when you get some flow right?

I really like those KLX's especially the newest ones. I was considering a KLX300 or the new CRF300L for the longest time, but ended up with this. It''s a '24 Husqvarna FE350s, it's pendulum is swung harder towards the off-road, but it's still a fun little ripper on the road too, as long as you minimize the higher speed freeways as much as possible. If it's more than an hour away, it goes on the trailer.

  • I think the first iteration of 1x11 XTR was it. Man that thing shifted like butter, didn't spit the chain off backpedalling in the 42t cog. Everything since has just been a massive disappointment. I've got SRAM on my current bikes, and it's nice having no wires or cables, but it sucks engagement wise.

  • Just remember, the A Better Calgary folks are pretty closely tied to the separatist folks. As in quite a lot of them are pretty outspoken about their beliefs on that topic.

Voting for a party member just invites chaos. The non-partisan associated folks have an outsized chunk of my attention. I'd probably even vote for someone I didn't like, if it came down to it. We need to send a pretty big message back to the UCP that we don't need their shenanigans at the municipal levels.

  • It is. It's also melted all our brains though, like some people need to be parented, but I mean the absolute garbage shit. That's morphed from people cleaning that up and the spam, to mods trying to enforce a whole bunch of unwritten rules and arbitrarily deciding what people can post or comment based on their own opinions. Those people are mostly neckbeards too, so that don't help.

  • The great thing with Lemmy though, is you can leave instances. I could get banned into the 6th dimension and I just have to start a different account on a different instance. Often can find whatever kind of sub I'm looking for on different instances too.

The cost of this will be less users but I mean if you can get a couple hundred, that largely eliminates that issue. Lemmy will keep getting bigger, we'll have to deal with the nutsack mods at some point, but there's no big daddy reddit for them to hide behind here. They are on their own.
