  • I hate this attitude. "Never let your child out of your sight or they'll immediately be kidnapped".

You know they're more likely to be abused by family than a stranger. By your rationale you should never allow family to see your children either.

  • Its technically the same as renting, but there's a lot of stupid historical reasons that make it awkward. You could be a leaseholder with a 1000 year contract costing a few pennies per year. Which makes you, for all intents and purposes, an owner of the property.

  • Haha of course. An "oral agreement" that nobody has any record of. They called no takesies backsies, too!

Here's an actual promise that really was agreed to. Signed by Russia. In writing. You know, like what happens when countries actually agree to things in the real world and not in Russian propaganda la la land.

  • It's sometimes called an overbalanced wheel, an early perpetual motion device. The idea is that there's more weights on the right side than the left side, so the wheel will turn clockwise. The weights are on rods that fall to the right as the wheel turns, so there's always going to be more weights on the right. So the wheel turns forever. Free power woohoo!

The reality is that the balls on the left are further away from the axle. Futher from the axle = greater torque. Surprise surprise it all cancels out and the wheel eventually comes to rest.
