  • Let's not forget this art is on the top of all time list of the furry_irl subreddit, and I even thought this was posted on a furry_irl communities before looking at this community's name.

  • We all know it's true
  • To be perfectly fair, this is also the case even with real life friend groups, where there are generally that one or two friends who hold the friendship the most.

  • One small request would be, if you could add an option to open links in incognito custom tabs?

A bit of a late reply, but if you're using Firefox for Android, you can choose to open every custom tab link in incognito mode. Perhaps that might help a little bit.

How do you represent different system members in physical space?

Usually, different system members have different appearances. Sometimes, different system members may have different bodies to each other-- even as far as having different gender or species. But with only one physical body, it's hard to represent or tell every members with the same body in physical space. So, how does your system handle that?

How do you tell apart or represent different system members in physical space? Do you only differentiate in headspace-- each members' physical form exist in headspace while the real life self remains the same regardless of who's fronting. Maybe you use subtle cues like arm ring color or necklace. Or maybe you use different clothes for different headmates-- though that would be difficult if you switch front while being outside.

Perhaps it's the different behavior like walking style, gestures, or manners. Or, just through the different personality each system members may have while fronting.

For us at least, we don't differentiate that much physically-- we like to think our body is separate from our headspace identity so it doesn't need to match our headspace form. We're also closeted about being plural, so we don't try to cue the fact we are more than one person.

  • [TW: sexual dimorphism] Transgender furries worldbuilding

[TW: Mentions of sexual dimorphism in animals. TWed just in case]

Most animals are sexually dimorphic, which means male and female individuals are different from each other beyond their bottoms. But for some animals, the differences are even more starking than humans.

For example, the different feather colors between male and female mallards. Male mallards have green heads while female mallards are mostly brown.

Other animals takes it further. Such as how all workers of a eusocial insect (ants, bees, and wasps) colonies are female and the males are just drones. There are many other examples in the wild.

When we turn these animals into anthros, we tend to keep their dimorphism, at least most of the obvious ones like how anthro deers have antlers, male anthro lions have manes, etc.

    ---

Now imagine if these anthros were transgender, how would it work out? How would they transition?

For example, how would transgendeers deal with their antlers? Would they wear fake antlers (for FtM deers) or cut their antlers (for MtF deers)? And what about anthro animals where the male and the female individuals have different fur/feather patterns? Would they have to paint their fur?

I suppose hormone could play a part in dimorphism even for animals, so much like humans, HRT may exist for anthros. But how would they work and what's the effect for anthros, especially for non mammals like insects, avians, and fish sonas?

But aside from that. I think the biggest hurdle would be size differences. Many male animals are larger than their female counterparts, sometimes as far as being twice their size. That could be a problem even worse than height dysphoria.

    ---

Of course, all of this can be hand-waived. Just like how anthro bears and anthro rabbits are often drawn the same size despite being a bear and a rabbit, we could also make male anthros and female anthros the same general size.

Besides, most animals don't have visible tops, yet most female anthros do.

But, I think this is an interesting topic to think about.

Do you still watch YouTube? Who do you follow?
  • Generally, I tend to focus on smaller creators, their qualities are usually better.

The channels I watched include Nitro Rad (gaming), MattKC (tech), and Modern Vintage Gamer (retro console/gaming).

  • Stupid rule
  • I think it was used wrong. CMIIW, but you only need to separate clauses with a comma if the subordinate clause comes before the main clause, so this: We squint at the sun, because it's too bright

Should've been this: We squint at the sun because it's too bright

But if the subordinate clause comes before main, then a comma is needed: Because it's too bright, we squint at the sun

However, the above mistake is not a mistake in German and a few other languages. If you translate the above sentence in German, it looks like this: Wir blinzeln in die Sonne, weil sie zu hell ist (yes, i use Google Translate)

  • What made you choose your instance?
  • Honestly, because of my interest, as you can tell from my instance's name and purpose. It's the first furry instance I see and also the most popular one, that's the initial reason.

[CW: Mentions of Transphobia] Persecutor is causing our host to disappear, what to do?

    [Content Warning: mentions of transphobia]

Long story short, our persecutor have been trying to repress our transfem host, to the point where she rarely fronted nowadays. Maybe it was internalized transphobia, which sometimes caused us quite a problem.

While she's not the only transfem in our system, I couldn't help but to feel bad that she might felt unwelcome here, in her only safe space. She's also pretty empty and unresponsive ever since she started to disappear.

Which fursona species do you think has heavy trans vibes?

A bit of a fun post, so no need to be serious.

Which fursona species do you think has heavy vibes with trans people? Which fursona species do you think many trans people would make or at least relate to?

Here are some of my suggestions:

    • Cats: catgirls, enough said.
    • Raccoons: maybe I'm slightly biased since it is my fursona, but I suppose they give a chaotic energy many trans people relate to, plus they're cute and unique.

What other species do you think would fit on this list?

  • Your community, as in the community you moderates? Yeah it makes sense.

From what I've heard, moderators (and admins probably) can see deleted posts, as this scenario did happen to my post in the communities I moderate. Fortunately, only moderators, admins, or anyone with your posts' link before it was deleted could potentially see your deleted posts.

That's why it's recommended that you edit your post title, description, and url/images to "deleted by creator" or similar when deleting your posts, as moderators can't undo edits.

  • Singular they rule
  • In a nutshell, it's like English's they (plural animate or inanimate), it (for feminine objects, remember that german is a gendered language like french) she, and you (both singular and plural) combined.

Though, Sie meaning "you" is the polite version, used to address someone politely. For informal situations, there's the impolite and always-singular "Du"

While there are different conjugations and capitalization between the different uses of Sie, in the end they all use the same word.

What is your workaround to avoid videos auto playing on websites?
  • Some browser supports blocking videos from autoplaying, Firefox is one of them but maybe chrome has similar options too. Check the browser settings.

  • To transfurs out there, would you want to turn into your fursona if it means turning to your preferred gender?

    So, would you?

    • Hell yeah, there's no downsides!
    • I would if it's what it takes to be my preferred gender.
    • Maybe, I'm kinda torn...
    • No! I don't want to be my fursona for real...

    Some clarification:

    • You would be the only one turned into an anthro, everyone else is still human.
    • If you have multiple fursona, you'd have to choose one.
    • The gender of the fursona you chose to turn to would match your preferred gender.
    • You wouldn't receive the superpowers of your fursona if they had one. You wouldn't become extremely large, have superpowers (especially not omnipotence or shapeshifting), or anything else other than an ordinary anthro.

My response: > Personally, I'm kinda torn. Becoming both my fursona and my gender at the same time would be a dream come true. Being my fursona isn't just a downside, it's what I wanted. > > But, in this scenario, I'd be the only anthro raccoon-- or anthro at all-- in the sea of humans. Thinking about it, if humans already discriminate against others just because of sexuality and gender (think of queerphobia and transphobia), imagine how they'd react to a completely different species, one that looks like an animal. > > It'd be cool to be my girl fursona, but very hard with how humans behave to anything different from them (also, funnily enough, I imagine myself as my fursona commenting on humans when I wrote that sentence).

  • What are some good non-freemium games for Android that I can play for a few minutes at a time?
  • I have quite a few recommendations. They are not quite non-freemium since they are free, but if your reason to prefer non-freemium is to avoid ads and in app purchases, then none of these games have them. They are all also open source and the link I provided below will be for their respective F-Droid version (note: some of these games are not available on Google Play Store):

    • Simon Tatham's Puzzle - A collection of many puzzle games ported to Android. The puzzles include Minesweeper, Net, Sudoku, and more.
    • Simple Solitaire Collection - As the name says, it's a collection of card-based Solitaire games.
    • Simple Brick Games - A game that imitates very basic handheld with very small pixel count. Games include tetris, breakout, and more.
    • 1010 Klooni - A puzzle game where you have to use various shaped blocks to fill an entire horizontal or vertical line.
    • Tower Jumper - This is a clone of a popular android game in which you move a jumping ball and try to reach the end of a tower avoiding the obstacles.
    • Ball2Box - A puzzle game about shooting a ball into the box.
    • Anuto - Another ugly tower defense.

This particular game requires far more attention and strategy than the ones listed above, but it can be played once every few minutes if you constantly save and reload (just don't play online):

    • Unciv - 4X civilization-building game, similar to Sid Meier's Civilization series.
  • Mage of Arches
  • Nah, Prince of Darkness is better than Archmage

    ...oh wait, wrong game

  • How do you enjoy listening to digital content? Speakers? Headphones? Earbuds?
  • Basically phone speakers at home, earbuds while away. As basic as you can get.

  • What genres of music do Lemmites enjoy?
  • Ori and the blind forest, a hat in time, deltarune. It's amazing how good videogame soundtrack can get!

  • Rules and Infomations for Transfurs

    Hello everyone, welcome to transfurs!

This is a community for transgender furries where we can come together and discuss more about the intersectionality between being transgender and furry. Of course, other queer furries and allies are welcome to join as long as things stay on topic.

Given the huge number of trans furries, we thought it might be a good idea to have a dedicated community. It would be nice to discuss the intersectionality between furry and trans experiences.

Keep in mind that despite the name association in other places, this community isn't about transformation related stuff (as in human turning into furries and the like). Rather, this community is about transgender furries.

We welcome transformation related contents if they are relevant to this community's purpose. But if you want to find and share purely transformation related stuff, there are other, more appropriate communities such as:

[CW: Repression, Internalized Transphobia] I need help dealing with Repression and Internalized Transphobia

    Hi, I'm Jasmine.

This post is a bit of a vent, but I also genuinely need help and comfort. I hope this is appropriate to talk about here and that I don't ruin the vibe of this community too much.

I'm tired with myself repressing my gender. I'm tired with me telling myself maybe I can live happily as a boy, maybe I can convince myself, or maybe this is all fake somehow. I feel like I'm not meant to be a girl, that I am meant to be a boy, and that I shouldn't transition because it's against my cultures. And my internalized transphobia sometimes made me think like a bigot when given the chance.

I've done my best to avoid lashing my internalized transphobia to anyone, even online, and I'll continue to do my best. I'll continue to do my best to support trans people, but ironically it's hard for me to support myself.

I know this all sounds so negative, but it's been eating away at my mental health. I need help.

I just wanted someone to reassure me that it's okay for me to transition and that there is nothing wrong with being transgender. I would also greatly appreciate sites and resources for trans people to reassure me that it's okay to be trans.

How often do you use "we" to refer to yourself/yourselves?

This post is mostly intented for plural systems, but I'm open to anyone responding as well, even if you aren't plural. It's nice to hear from another perspective outside our community.

When you have more than one selves within the same body, it's fair to say that the pronoun "I" may not be enough sometimes. After all, if you share your body with more than one selves, some of the things your body does would technically be done by all of your selves.

For example, as a plural system myself, whenever I go anywhere, technically all my headmates (or another selves) will also go with me since we share the same body. If the body goes somewhere, everyone goes along with it. With that, some stuff about us can't be described with just "I." Think of how I've been using "we," "us," and "our" throughout this post.

So, if you're plural yourself, do you also use plural pronouns the same way we do? When do you use "we" to describe yourself? And when do you use "I" to describe yourself?

    > For me at least, I usually use singular pronouns for stuff like opinions, since every one of us have differing opinions (even if we share the same body!). For example, I am writing most of this text alone, so I use singular first person. > > But, for stuff all of us agree on, stuff written by more than one headmates, or stuff involving multiple headmates, I often use plural pronouns like "we" since it involves more than one of us. I also use we for the more formal stuff. In a way, it's kind of like using royal/formal we. > > Honestly, being more than one in the same body presents a lot of weird and interesting quirks, and this is just one of them.

And, if you're not plural or don't understand what's going on here (that's understandable), how often do you use royal/formal we to describe yourself? If you're the sole moderator of a community on lemmy or someplace else, do you use "we" for moderator announcements to sound more formal?
