I don't think either is acceptable. But other animals have to accept it from us, and we would have to accept it from the aliens. Ultimately it would be up to aliens to determine what happens because they hold all the power, just as if other animals are ever going to achieve liberation it will be because of humans changing, not themselves, which is unfortunate.
Play however you want but I find your statement on player vs encounter power solely based on actions to be reductive. The power is definitely tilted in the player's favour this game.
Difficult terrain or damaging obstacle combined with either shoving and throwing or Eldritch Blast with Repelling Blast or Mobile Flourish or any other knockback. Early game you can generally combine a cantrip with another ability, environmental object, or item to produce some kind of hazardous terrain.
Paladin with Great Weapon Master and Hold Person/Monster. Proc your bonus attack and crit smite on demand. You can even do this effectively on the Paladin themselves by dumping most of your points into full caster classes, giving you many more smite slots as well. People swear by haste but CC is more immediate and effective.
Dual wielding with a Thief dip. You can always turn those bonus actions into attacks. You can be a machine gun or use your main action to cast useful spells well still making two attacks. Remember to unchain your two weapons so you don't automatically make offhand attacks in addition to main hand attacks.
I keep seeing the sentiment in this thread that if you go to prison you basically deserve whatever happens to you, which is a fucked up stance in itself, but more importantly:
Why do the cows, chickens, etc. deserve to suffer because someone is in prison? Does that make sense in any moral framework? How would you feel if we bagged random people not guilty of anything and forced prisoners to watch them tortured "on their behalf" as a form of punishment? That's pretty much the same situation ethically and everyone would agree it's fucked up.

I get you, though I started playing early, only missing Selee's banner. I did some initial pulls on Jing's banner to try to get a foundation of units and accidentally got him before pity. Other than that I have only pulled for Silver Wolf and Luocha, skipping the carries. There are plenty of 4 star carries and I'm very happy running units like Qingque and Sushang, you only need 1 or maybe 1.5 damage units, so having a roster full of them would feel bad. I'm going to wait for Fu Xuan next.
My problem with Lae'zel is that she shares too many major story beats with Shadowheart. But individually they are good characters and we aren't spoiled for choice with 6.5 origin characters and a few more plot relevant companions. Her story works well for a Gith and it's good that we have a Gith companion option with how relevant the illithid are to the plot.
Except gender is a much less mature topic than sex and sexual attraction, something that should be taught around 5th grade if not earlier, before children have confusing feelings and their bodies undergo confusing changes. The media atmosphere already leaves impressions about sexuality in the minds of children much earlier, so there isn't much harm for parents or teachers to discuss the topic in a much healthier way.
Gender on the other hand is something impressed upon and experienced by even toddlers, so the topic of gender isn't all that mature, it's only treated as mature because of the social taboos regarding trans individuals.
