Failed Fukushima Fixes Falling Like Dominoes
  • I was a little confused since I'm from America and am used to all utilities being privately owned, so I did some research. It does look like Japan's government owns a majority stake in the company, specifically because of this disaster. The private stakeholders are still there but own minority stakes. So yeah, the government of Japan dropped the ball here. It's strange that I read the linked article and they never mentioned the government once.

  • Quirks with "Open in browser"

I love the app, first and foremost. It's hands-down the best way to view Lemmy posts, and it feels amazing to scroll and interact with.

When I click a link that opens in a browser, though, it opens without any frame around it and can't open into any third party apps. I know it may not impact everyone, but for me this is pretty difficult to get around. Some use cases:

    • I clicked the link to view Liftoff! in the Play Store, and I couldn't click to actually download the app. Sure, I already have this installed, but it could happen for other apps.
    • I was reading an article that I wanted to share externally, but the menu for my browser wasn't available to share that content.
    • I clicked a YouTube video and wanted to watch it in the official app instead of the browser. There was no way to open the link in another app.

Again, loving the app but this would make it so much cooler!

God, the Pixel 6 might be the worst phone I've ever owned

    It's me again, hi all.

I received my replacement phone, and it's been nothing but issues since. Android System Intelligence has crashed multiple times, and Bluetooth keeps disabling itself for no discernable reason. I've tried everything short of factory reset (because I'm on a work trip and can't risk losing my MFA apps).

I regret ever purchasing a Google product at this point. Buyer beware.

Also: Google, if you're reading this, do better. I know you won't, though.

TIFU by not securing my headphones

Technically this happened yesterday, but I'm still pretty mad at myself.

I've been riding my ebike pretty frequently to and from work. It's a short trip and basically the same amount of time as a car would take, so it just makes sense. My bike also has a cupholder, and I've been placing my keys in there to avoid being stabbed by them.

Yesterday, I had the brilliant idea of putting my headphones in there. I was trying to reduce clutter in my pockets and make it easier to peddle. Well, I hit a few bumps that were a little larger than usual, and with the traffic and trying to keep my head on a swivel I didn't notice my headphones bounce out of the cupholder.

I made it all the way home only to discover my massive error. Rip the $200 to replace those...
