  • Our country is so big and heavily populated (and most of our many, many populated areas are overshadowed by a few really touristy places like New York, the Disney parks and Yellowstone National Park and Hawaii which isn’t even that American) and that you’ll rarely encounter someone from a country that uses the 24 hour system. Canada uses the 12-hour clock if I remember correctly from when I last went there, and I think Mexico does since we usually learn their dialect of Spanish in school (but I’m not sure, in all my spanish classes they taught us to say “son las ocho y media en la noche” for 8:30 PM, instead of “veinte y media horas” as I was taught when I studied in Spain for a semester)

  • I just go to coffee shops. I live in Seattle ffs (though I prefer the smaller and local shops, their food and coffee is more unique and tastes better, and they usually treat their employees way better than starbucks)

  • “Polite russians and cheap wheat” Amen to that, I’m incredibly sick of those ruzzian nationalists on social media going on and on about how their country owns everything and everyone and about how my country America is the most depraved and evil place there is because 2 of our men who love each other can officially marry, live normal lives, and be themselves with a far lower risk of alienation from family and community here, and I’ve even had one so obsessed with me he subscribed to me on YouTube just so he can throw the usual predictable, childish tantrums over 2 colors in my profile picture there and spam the emoji “🇷🇺” and/or “something something ukronazisTM”, “Alaska was supposed to be a temporary lease!!” or “something something US imperialism something something DA GEYYYYYYYZ” in response to unrelated comments of mine that don’t even mention his precious war.

There are even some who celebrated the war crimes their regime’s fellow terrorists (tbc I mean Hamas, not the Palestinian people and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise) recently committed against civilians in Israel in the hopes that it killed those Russian Jews who “betrayed ze mazarland” by bolting for the country last year, knowing more than any other group that nothing good will or historically has come to their kind from life under another racist, expansionistic and extremely far-right dictator who outlaws pretty much everything.

  • If ukraine loses it will obviously affect us, did you know that Ruzzia’s often fantasized about taking back Alaska and directing its legions of keyboard warriors to spread the lie that their sale of it to us was supposed to be temporary? In that case, RIP indigenous villages and gays in Anchorage

  • I use mine as firestarter at barbecues- ot did, back when summer still had rain in my area (the only time of year when it gets nice enough to bbq), now there’s a yearly burn ban that spans the entire season

  • Idk about many of the people here, but I’m glad to see copper finally getting some much-overdue love, right now it just fills our chests since we can’t even make beacons with it. I’m most excited about the autocrafters, I can’t believe they actually made an old childhood dream of mine a real thing. Can’t wait to finally make 100%-automated dried kelp factories that can continuously refuel themselves at an ever-increasing rate, paper mills, iron block farms, sawmills, slime and (if I can figure out how to grab the 4 empty bottles to be taken back to the dispensers) honey farms that automatically produce the blocks needed for airships, and gold farms that make the ingots and blocks for you.

I also find the new wind-blaze thing interesting, curious to see what more they’ll do with that one.

That being said I do really hope that they surprise us with more content in this update than just all of that, like they did with the sakura biomes. This is all a great start, but I really hope they aren’t lazy again like with 1.20; maybe finally add palm trees? And they better at least make wolf armor enchantable; don’t make me regret having the armadillo as my second-favorite after the crab

  • True. This is Mojang. A studio that has been a subsidary of a megacorporation worth trillions of dollars for a good 9 years. The creators of a game that is over 14 years old and still going strong, an IP worth BILLIONS of dollars… and they keep carrying on like they’re still an indie studio, going in mere months from several exciting mega-updates that completely upend the gameplay to 2 flops that we had to wait an absurdly long time for each, for how little they added compared to the updates that immediately preceded them. And used the second-decimal revisions of those to sneak in a few rule changes that enshittify the multiplayer experience with fuck-all input from the community.

  • “Perhaps some would call on us to point out the obvious moral hypocrisy of those far-left Americans who bandy about terms like “war criminal” while turning a blind eye to what amounts to an unconscionable war crime on the part of Hamas. But we are also not going to do that. Why? Because people will get angry with us—extremely irritating people, to be clear—and we just don’t want to deal with it.”

Ah yes, the tankies. There are even reports of them doing the same thing but for throwing around “imperialism” while turning a blind eye to Russian expansionism not only in Ukraine, but also often fantasizing about coming for Alaska next. (But knowing tankies I wouldn’t at all put it past them to support an invasion of “the imperial coreTM” to own the “ameritardsTM”)

  • If by “them” you mean lemmygrad and hexbear users, then yes. They ban all who don’t agree 100% with their stupid takes on any given issue.

If by “them” you mean Palestinians in regards to the actions of hamas, if you’d bothered to see my comment history you’d see that I’ve only ever spoken out AGAINST people who actually believe or are arguing that.

  • I’ve actually once seen a tankie scream something about how the “imperial coreTM” (America) allows gay marriage, codifying Obergefell into law last year just in case SCOTUS and some red-state AG decide it needs to go and make a serious attempt at it. Some of them actually do think it’s “capitalistic degeneracy”
