Is replacing a tub/shower combo DIY'able
  • Depending on your situation, you may be able to use a quick connect kit which can be pretty easy. But yes, the drain assembly needs some care - especially if you need to cut finished pipe to length for, say, a cast iron standing tub. Its not too different from a sink drain assembly if you’ve done that before.

  • The biggest issue I’ve seen is hastiness - if you take the time to learn each step well and can keep yourself from rushing, then it can be fine.

It’s the ones that try to do it over the weekend because their wife is yelling at them about it that get into trouble.

Buy & fly a plane or jet points?

I really dislike commercial flying, and would like another option.

I've been investigating jet point clubs and it seems like it comes out to around $8-10k an hour (depending on distance, place size, etc.). I've also been looking into buying and flying my own (non-jet) plane.

Jet points would mean a nicer flight with no work on my end, but private flying would mean more options / freedom / etc.

In terms of cost, I was thinking around $300k for a reasonable starter plane that I could use for a few years.

Has anyone done a similar sort of analysis? I'd be curious to hear about your experiences.

    Thanks.
