Alternative voting systems have in practice been proven useless, whether in South Korea, Japan, Australia, and many other capitalist dictatorship countries that use it. It might make bribery a bit more expensive, since there are more candidates to buy off, and more political advertising necessary, but it hasn't fixed anything.
The root problem is capital standing above political power. And that can't be undone using it's own platform.

The donation popup has an API to mark that its been seen for your user, as well as a last_donation_notification date that comes back as part of MyUser. This is tied to your user so it can sync across all apps.

v1.0 is mainly about finalizing the API, which is mostly done now. We still have a few issues to finish for the 1.0.0 release, but this is likely still months away due to the need for apps to handle the breaking changes, and get caught up on features.
Even though this is our first stable release, people should remember also that lemmy isn't an enterprise product; its free software developed by a small number of volunteers.

I don't see much point in making GUI apps for desktop nowadays, especially since desktop usage is in decline compared to smartphones. If you still want to, I'd go with iced, which is in rust, and well designed.
