I can at least kind of see Eisenhower being sincere. Traditionally it's been a way for big businesses to bully local municipalities into giving them free security via local cops, tax incentives, etc by claiming that they're losing so much money to shoplifters that they have no choice but to close shop unless something changes (which is always bullshit, they're printing money). Walmart is infamous for doing this to small towns after they annihilate any local competition through lower prices from their economy of scale.

That's like half of TikTok. I don't know why so many people decide to take video of their foreheads while their microphone peaks trying to pick up whatever background audio they're trying to record a live reaction to.

The issue with age gap discourse is that it often devolves into conflating the (visible) potential for abuse with abuse itself. There's nothing you can say about an age gap in a relationship between two consenting adults that wouldn't equally apply to a relationship between two people who make drastically different incomes, or who have different levels of social aptitude with their friends and family, or differences in physical size/strength. It also starts to feel like invalidating abuse that isn't immediately clear just from looking at the people involved.

Putting apartments on top of big box stores seems like a perfectly fine thing to do wherever the stores are in urban or more populated areas. The only real problem here beyond the usual landlord-parasitism is if these start being handed out to Costco employees tied to their employment status (and even then if you're working retail your living situation is probably fucked when you lose your job anyway, so I'm not sure it even exasperates that problem all that much in hellworld).

I don't think people here have a good sense of just how invasive and all-consuming digital surveillance goes. The server that hosts this site is likely rented from a data center that could be yanked and data mined by any federal agency with a warrant and 30 seconds of notice, the traffic all routes through NSA blackbox sites, and there's a nonzero chance the device anyone uses to browse here is phoning traffic home to the feds anyway (thanks Google!).

If you're concerned about feds knowing you shitpost here, then you shouldn't be shitposting here. A FOIA request isn't putting anyone here on anyone's radar that wasn't already there.
