  • It was, but it kicked off the Civil War just a few years later. In terms of making people get off their asses and do the right thing* it's solidly in first place so far.

*Only after much kicking, screaming, denial, and eventual failure to deliver fully on the true end of slavery in the US.

  • Marvel Rivals is, surprisingly, quite good. They're leaning heavily on the comics style for the characters rather than another half-assed attempt at an MCU adaptation. The game is entirely FTP, with only cosmetics being something you have to buy as far as I can tell, and you start with all characters unlocked with no bullshit. If capeshit (or, perhaps more appropriately, the source material that was turned into capeshit) is of any interest and you can stomach multiplayer PVP, I'd recommend giving it a try.

  • I would laugh my ass off if they had an actual trail on him and lost it because a bus operator was too distressed over fighting their insurance over prescription drugs to upkeep the bus cam.

  • That's just the New Deal Democrats in a nutshell. We've passed that point though, there's no organized left to threaten them into compromise so they have free reign to be as openly monstrous as they please.

  • Why is Chaos auth-right? Slaanesh would never!

  • Well you see, if the US is doing something completely evil and indefensible then the only fallback for the American exceptionalism-poisoned western mind is to immediately declare that everywhere else is even worse! Otherwise we wouldn't live in the Greatest Country on Earth(tm), and that's impossible no matter how much our lying eyes say otherwise.

  • As someone who has given far more technical interviews than I ever asked to, I can safely say that the biggest thing you can have on a resume to get fast tracked to an interview is a degree from some Ivy League school. I can also safely say that those people are no smarter, cleverer, or harder working than people with no degree at all, and in fact most of these people were completely useless. Doubly so if they'd spent 5+ years at a FAANG company.

  • Also, it's 3x typical tech wages. Even outside the typical tech hubs, that's still a high paying position, and you'd be making that much in a country with a massively lower COL.

  • The derpy eyes really pull the whole snek together

  • It was 100% because the existing Electron version they were using was ancient, a giant pain in the ass to update, and represents exactly zero revenue for them so they hadn't bothered putting anyone on fixing it. Every tech company has the ticking time bomb in the corner like that.

  • Character arc of a Shen Yun dancer realizing that the giant red wave with Karl Marx's head sweeping the stage at the end of the show is a good thing.

  • Ionization chamber smoke detectors have a tiny grain of Americium in them, which is radioactive. However, the radiation is almost entirely alpha particles which are relatively low risk as they don't penetrate skin particularly well.

They are also still sold, though you should buy the other kind (which use light beams instead) because they're significantly better at their jobs.

  • It's really hard to tell why Russia might start swinging when the west not only breaks every treaty it's ever signed with it, but then has the gall to turn around and go "you can get fucked" right afterwards

  • I was more referring to the "endless horde of mindless attack dogs vs high-tech phalanx wall" bit being heavily in a traditional military's favor on account of having 'ranged weaponry' and other such forms of cheating per the rules of glorious melee combat.

The ship is going to curbstomp quite a lot, though I imagine if you start indiscriminately tossing nukes at it you'd get through eventually.

  • He's not entirely wrong, but only because Wakanda is hamstrung by being written by Hollywood writers who react to basic military tactic knowledge the same way a Puritan from 1600 would react to women not buried under 37 full-body layers of clothing at all times.

  • On the contrary, rule #1 of nuclear war is live directly next to a major target so you get the instantaneous atomization death over the cancer-and-famine option.

  • Democrats: Coming out against genocides they started and perpetuated for decades, bravely.

  • Commit to the bit. The bit is eternal.

  • Smith has to be one. He's literally the father of capitalism, and viewed it as revolutionary against the existing feudal order.

The fact that the European empires later weaponized it as colonial enforcement and industrialization came along shortly afterwards to finish off what he viewed as a way for guildsman to control their own destinies is a tragedy beyond his control.
