On the ringworm part, the funny part is to immigrate to Canada (and presumably the USA?), people and their pets both need proof of vaccination. So new immigrants are the least likely to transmit infectious diseases.

Many local bike shops sell them so it's worth asking to support local. I find the Arkel cam mechanism with the hook to be much quicker, easier, and more durable than Ortlieb panniers. It goes on and off my rack in literally 2 seconds.

I actually regret purchasing an Ortlieb bag years ago, although those German-made bags are high quality too.

Organic Maps and OSMAnd are phone apps. You can use Street Complete which is like Pokemon GO but improves the maps in your area.

Time to update your community on Open Street Map and start using Street Complete so people around you can switch to Open Street Map apps. All it takes is a couple active editors to make a town viable.
