You could probably use most sands or rocks, it’s just cheaper to start with more silicon dioxide since the purification processes will result in higher yields.
Watched it over the weekend and was rather underwhelmed. It felt “cheap” compared to Fury Road. The CGI was quite terrible in comparison, especially when they showed some scenes from the last movie during credits. It’s just so obvious they paid less detail to the effects and it seemed like a significant decrease in their use of practical effects. Add to that some of the effects were just plain bad. AND worse of all
Tap for spoiler
They skipped the final fight scene completely!
Also there was just too much talking. Fury Road was great because the world building was done without extra dialog. Furiosa just felt like any other Hollywood film with nothing special at all.
Maybe we should have a competition then? Like an annual Gayman competition where gayletes can compete in various gay events, with a winner eventually crowned.
But we know the tallest person in the world and possibly the tallest person in history. I’m sure if we can calculate a gayness metric we can also find these values, at the very least once our metric is define.
And how long will that advantage last? China has been investing a lot into indigenous chip development. And you know they’re more than willing to bribe or steal to speed up that process. In 5-10 years the cost of invasion might not be so steep.
The problem is what can Taiwan do if China just decides to burn it all to the ground? The entire island is within missile and bombing range. The effectiveness of anti air defenses are known from the existing conflicts. They can stockpile enough ordnance to overwhelm whatever defenses are in place. Overall it’s just a very scary situation.
Having ridden both, they’re both great and somewhat confusing!
That’s like 50% of the graduating class?
That just makes it sound like grad students are excellent targets for corporate influence.
My partner totally asks me questions she hears from TikTok trends. Man vs bear, etc.
There are a number of different locking mechanisms but there’s plenty without extra locking protection. For example: https://www.rei.com/product/162856/black-diamond-hotforge-straight-gate-carabiner?sku=1628560001
It says 150lbs, a climbing carabiner is rated for like 22kN which is about 5000lbs.
I mean maybe that just means you were bad at naming which is the hardest part! When I’m sober I spend a lot of thought on naming things, and when it gets skipped over while drunk I’m just like wtf did I write?
If you can’t understand it, is it high quality?
In my experience I can write more code after a few drinks. However I usually find that the code is of low quality when I check it the next day…
Do you consider mid level one promotion or two promotions from entry? I was thinking two promotions above entry since the first promotion is mandatory.
Mid-level in SF is like $200k for a startup and twice that for big tech.
Apparently even fewer regularly alternate between formats.
Hmm isn’t this 40k as well?
The Emperor of Man: “Gods don’t exist, use logic and science!”
The Imperium of Man: “All hail the God-Emperor, where are the 1000 sacrifices?”
More than we can consume right now. We used to think this about oil as well. Humans will seek to reach this limit as quickly as possible. It will certainly create new technologies. However I don’t think it will solve scarcity problems for everyone since many of those issues are not resources or technology but politics. We choose to deprive certain humans of their basic needs.
