Gen Z commit to ‘canceling out’ their MAGA parents votes in new TikTok trend
  • No it's not. It's because it, like other Chinese companies, are at risk of being browbeaten by their government into providing whatever information they have on American users to use as they wish. One can easily argue what kind of risk that actually poses, but that's why they're trying to ban it. Unless you have some sort of proof....

  • As a bike rider, I forget this is a thing. Asked my neighbor, he pays $350/month in insurance alone 🙃
  • You have a point, but you need to not care about some else's bullshit opinion. You don't need to explain yourself. Save your dough and you'll have money for whatever suits you down the road.

Paying cash for big items like cars isn't always the best idea, but less debt never hurts.

  • Tim Walz calls for scrapping of electoral college to decide US presidential race
  • The reality is life doesn't work that way.

Single issue voting is not the way to advance a particular cause. Contacting your congress critter is a better way to approach any single issue. They're usually around much longer than any sitting POTUS.

  • Trump election conspiracist Tina Peters sentenced to 9 years in prison by Colorado judge
  • Nope. She LITERALLY broke the law and was found guilty. I can't sum it up any better than the judge.

I would support this same course of action for ANYONE who does what she did (and continued to do while never once having any proof).

She is harmful to society and is where she belongs.

The only thing mental here is the complete loyalty some show towards any political figure. Both sides. You obviously suffer from this as your post shows complete disregard for facts and critical thinking. Best of luck with that.

  • Tuesday 9/10 Presidential Debate Megathread!
  • Sorry I missed this. Now that I've had time to reflect, I misspoke. What felt like a bias at the time boils down to Trump fact checking. They could've spent the whole 90 min focusing on his BS.

  • What was your last RTFM adventure?
  • Trying to setup dnscrypt-proxy on my personal laptop. I tend to think I things are more complicated, so I went down the rabbit hole searching for all manner of issues and setup guides. It's not hard.... RTFM

  • XBPS has spoiled me - advice needed.

One of the few things that differentiates the major distros is the package manager. I've been running void on my laptop for the last 3 years and love it. XBPS is super fast and easy to use. It has never left me with a broken system either. That said, I've got the itch to switch.

I am looking at rolling / up to date distros. I'm inclined to use CLI when available.

I've been considering Opensuse, but last time I used zypper it was painfully slow. Has it gotten any better?

I was thinking of trying Alpine, how is APK?

Not interested in *butu, but apt seemed okay.

What's your favorite and how does it behave?

How do I setup my name for posts in other instances?

I see a lot of users who post have @nameblah@instancetheiraccountison, which I think is very handy when posting in other instances. Did I miss a step in my account setup? How do I set my name up in the same manor? TIA
