  • like generating lobby/elevator music or ‘generic greek background ambiance music’ for a restaurant or something. Also the easy parts of the music market, same chords and beats with meaningless text sung on autotune are in its reach

You’re probably right, unfortunately. I guess I’d just file it under things that nobody wants or needs. The whole scenario you just described is really sad, and I struggle to find the actual value in it.

  • We’re going to continue to be disappointed by AI artwork in every form because you can’t just artificially create an amalgamation of music and expect it to be any good.

The AI hype is going to die a quick death, in my opinion, and I don’t even think we’re that far off from it. Attempting to remove the human element from artistic creation is a fool’s errand, and the sooner it fails and dies the better off we’ll all be.

  • Reading this took me back 25 years when I left the Midwest for California. The journey on the way to your next destination is such an adventure. I’m excited for you, it’s gonna be awesome. Embrace the change, and don’t forget where you came from.

Also, don’t forget to introduce people to that awesome KC barbecue, it’s legit.

  • Indeed, Telegram is a hive of criminal content. At the moment, the platform is in the news with the illegal broadcasting of Ligue 1 matches.

This is pretty funny. The first example of crime is people posting dodgy links to football streams? They can’t be serious.

  • Sorry it took me a week to get back to this, because I really did want to discuss it. The American welfare system is all the things you mentioned and worse. In conservative states, they actively make things harder on poor people to live, and then make it harder for poor people to vote these knobs out of office.

So yeah, I understand that the cruelty is the point. Then the Republican Party marches some Uncle Tom up on the dais to give a speach about some billionaire shitbird that pretends to care about poor people of any color. The fact that someone in a trailer park in the south thinks that Trump cares about them is really sad to me.

The fact that our state elected JD “I fuck couches and can’t order donuts” Vance as an actual senator in this state because Peter Thiel propped him up with an endless supply of money is embarrassing enough, but then this hillbilly elegy moron just keeps opening his mouth and makes Dan Quayle look like a Rhodes scholar by comparison.

It’s all really tiring, and I guess that’s what they’re going for. But I’ll be god damned if I leave this shithole state a worse place than I found it. I’m not going away until we unfuck our gerrymandered state like Michigan managed to unfuck theirs.

  • No downvote button for Beehaw. But, we have a block button, which due to who we are / aren’t federated with, I think I used twice in the last 10 months or so since I joined.

Truthfully, I haven’t really needed it. It’s pretty chill and people seem to have more reasonable discussions.

  • I like being up to date on what my city councillors are doing, events my local cafes host, local art exhibits, etc. Things that have tangible benefits to my community.

I’m going to say this in the nicest way possible- get up off your behind and attend council meetings in person, walk around your neighborhood, do anything except getting all your local news from Facebook. It’s literally there to show you what they want you to see, not what you want to see. Meta as a company is awful, and the algorithms they use to deliver content and advertising to you are a malignant tumor on society. Any information you get from it can easily be ascertained by walking around your neighborhood.
