  • I've finally started converting my family to jellyfin. They used to use Plex no problem, but when I noticed my stuff being displaced by streaming something or others in the Plex UI I dropped it for Jellyfin.

It's not without issues. I'm still having trouble with program guide data for my hd homerun, but I haven't had time to dedicate to sorting it out. There was a bug recently that caused my credentials to get locked out of schedules direct. That's been a real pita.

These are some of my favorites, I'm sure I'm missing some though.

  • "motion-censored lights" - like strobe lights? You just get a series of still images?

These people require so much exploited labor just to exist, imagine having to vet your gardener because you're so worried about being attacked by your employees.

It must require so much effort to maintain that kind of cognitive distortion. No wonder they think they work so hard.

  • God I love LRB

  • A sampling:

    "Okay. The American healthcare system."

"What's the quickest way to get out when you're lost in the desert? Just shout 'I FOUND OIL' at the sky and the US Army will find you soon"

"When I was going through puberty I used to joke that my face was so oily that the Americans would colonize it next."

"Sorry, I don't have any jokes. Please don't shoot."

"If USA is so good then why do we have USB?"

"English is such an easy language that even Americans know how to speak it."

"What's the difference between America and yogurt? After 100 years yogurt grows culture."

"If you speak 3 languages you are trilingual. If you speak 2 languages you are bilingual. If you speak 1 you are American."

"I bought you a house in Los Angeles last year. I wanted to tell you about it at the spring festival, but it was burned down."

    And my personal favorite:

"Why do you eat like your healthcare is free?"

  • We've done this before.

Last time we used the word terrorist.

It's a word whose definition will change to suit whoever it has been decided needs to be dealt with.

It makes extrajudicial assassination of US Citizens legal for the government to do. Fun times.

  • I understand that stance for sure. My border proximity is less for running because of rights restrictions and more based on the necessity for humanitarian aid if things get too spicy. I arrived at a similar conclusion about where Canada, and the rest of the Western world to be frank, is going. We just tend to lead the pack on things like modernizing fascism here in the US.

Leaving Missouri for Minnesota has done loads for the mental health of myself and my family. I cannot recommend this place enough especially if you've mostly only experienced states run by people who think that governments can't actually do things.
