I read October by China Mieville, and one thing he discusses is that the early Bolsheviks did A LOT to reach out to Central Asian Muslims in the Russian Empire, to the point that a lot of Bolshevik congresses had dedicated all-Muslim delegations. I think I recall reading somewhere that a lot of central Asian countries today have a pretty positive opinion of Lenin because of this.
