While protesting on Dam square, one of us was chased by police and dragged into a police van. Either he was already targeted or the police singled out a random person to give us a warning. So crazy, never seen this before with my own two eyes. I'm safe now, returning home

Students around Belgium are starting to occupy campuses this week. Hopefully it goes well
In the Netherlands, two more campuses have been occupied now as well. Groningen and TU Eindhoven

Its definitely more noticeable in the US. In my country there isn't a single one yet afaik.
The Netherlands is absolutely doing a fascism speedrun it seems and the student protests are highlighting it tremendously. Never in my life have I seen people justify police beating down a protest against genocide with even politicians intimidating journalists.
Like, over here universities are getting occupied as well but apart from some mellow reactions there hasn't been any trouble (yet). The Netherlands is just collectively losing it. But seeing the election results that shouldn't be a surprise.

A blessing and a curse
Apparently the Asian Hornet has won the battle against extermination here and the government and exterminators will just accept that the invasive species will thrive here. Money is also a big issue in this. It may or may not decimate native bee populations, but based on news articles nobody really seems to care.
At this point, I´d say have a nature battle galore. Introduce wild scorpions as they kill hornets. Breed millions of birds to kill them. Have exterminators put on three suits and fill their nests with fireworks. Have some fun, it's not that anyone even cares anymore.

I'm at least willing to defend wasps as there are a lot more of them than just the standard yellow jacket. Lots of solitary wasps, for example, are great pest controls and some even help with pollinating. Even yellow jackets are useful as pest control.
The Asian Hornet however is invasive in Europe and is damaging other insects populations and even humans.

was speaking to a family member who mentioned her coworker talking about "standing with Israel" which sent me into a full blown rant about how fucking evil Zionists are and how Palestinians are 100% justified in their attacks on Israel and I think my indignant rage kinda shook her a bit lol.
I feel like I've had this anger boiling just under the surface for so long and I finally opened a release valve and just went off about how Israel and the US are unequivocally evil. I ended up apologizing to her because once I cooled down I felt bad about blowing up on her but man it felt good to finally just release all that anger. I need a better way to channel it though

What president Biden is saying here is that Americans can't outcompete anyone without having monopoly on intellectual property lmao. These university protests and how the administration is violently imposing the cops on students is making me worried about my future. Right now I’m still in undergrad but I wont be for much longer and will be moving on to my Masters soon (in a little over a year I should be done) but the schools that have graduate and doctoral programs are all cracking down on students hard and I don’t know if I want to go to a school that does shit like that (this is Canada, by the way).
I would like to study abroad but money is an issue and so are my dogs. Money because I am actually on disability so travelling is restricted in general so I would assume leaving the country to study is also prohibited (or at least I would be kicked off and be left with no income); the dogs are only an emotional issue as I don’t want them to be hurt on the plane if I leave the country (I made a post lamenting about this, it was stupid lol). Can I study in a different province? Sure, but again, money is still the main problem. I am more than willing to get a job during my masters and doctorate but losing that support system sucks. This is a weird rant but it’s my genuine feelings. Maybe one or some of you relate, I don’t know.

Sucks that you can't really go abroad, but understandable that you don't want to leave your dogs behind.

Look for seller with longer history and good ratings. I've bought hundreds of dollars of random little items there, 100+ packages, and only 2 or 3 had issues or lost due to lost in transit after reaching my local area. If broken upon arrival, received refund, etc.
I've bought a lot of random guitar junk over the past couple of years. Never had an issue. Longer delivery times maybe.
Twitter has one of the worst search engines I've ever seen. They changed the URL to x and I wanted to see what people are saying. But if you look up the word "Twitter" you're hit with a bunch of random shit with a lot of likes. If you look up Twitter URL, all the comments are Japanese, Indian, Russian. I guess it's designed that way; you're not meant to find the stuff Elon doesn't want you to see like the original site name.
For a brief time they introduced a comical URL switch issue. They wanted all things that contained twitter.com to be shown as x.com. But they did that terribly. So if someone registered a domain like for example "netflitwitter.com" and put a fake Netflix login page on it, then posted a tweet with their link, it would be displayed as netflix.com but redirect you to the phishing site
I went to the Palestine sit-in at VU today and was a bit disappointed. It was not as radical as at UvA. There were only speeches and chants. It seemed more like a lunch break. One of the speechers was a teacher who teaches international law and he started by saying that he is in favor of a two state solution. Then he kept comparing Israel with Russia.
But since VU is notably more right wing than UvA, I guess it's surprising they even have a Palestine protest. Hopefully the VU protestors have something more radical planned for next week. Since they were making banners as well, I feel like they are planning something.

I remember when Rojava was a thing and chapo including the sub was really onboard with it so a lot of well meaning western left got swept up with that nonsense because of their propaganda banners and symbolism.
Killing people doesn’t make one a bad person. If he was killing ISIS he was killing US proxy forces. If he was killing Syrian government troops or their friends on the other hand he was doing US dirty work.
Some people say it’s proof he’s a US intel op and he could be. But he could just as easily be some weird idealist dude. I don’t think he’s harmful to listen to. He doesn’t have awful politics even if his professed bent isn’t quite ML, doesn’t really punch at AES states to my limited knowledge.
There’s a competing podcast or two that like to accuse him of being a fed which is also something feds might do to someone who isn’t so be careful about believing any random unsourced claims that are too over the top.
