Greetings all! After a discussion with the mod team, we've decided to handle spoilers for the upcoming season as such:
Each week we will open one sticky post a day or so prior to the new episode. Please use that post for all relevant discussion. After one week, commentary on the episode will be considered free-for-all and a new discussion post will be pinned for the following episode release and so forth until the season is complete.
If for some reason you would like to post seperately from the stickied post, please be considerate of others and 1) use [SPOILER] in the post title 2) avoid including images that might ruin another community member's experience in the title-image area. 3) if you are posting directly from the lemmy.world website, please refer to this post on how to use the spoiler function . How to post spoilers in lemmy.
Many users who are accessing the fediverse through third party apps (mlem, jeroba, liftoff, voyager, etc.) may not have the spoiler feature available when reading and/or posting so please keep that in mind.
If anyone else has questions or thoughts on the matter, feel free to reply. We want this to be an enjoyable experience for us all.
One thing I'd like to suggest is to include the episode number in the post title alongside the "[SPOILER]" warning.
It may be obvious to us now that the spoiler is for the latest episode, but it becomes a bit of a problem for anyone watching in the future and is reading the sticky post and/or other posts related to that episode.
While I used to routinely binge-read manga or binge-watch anime, I very often went to the stickied post which had discussions about a particular chapter/episode. I felt that I was missing out on some fan art/discussions that had the spoiler tag because I didn't know which chapter/episode the spoiler was for.
Something as simple as [SPOILER] [S8E1] in the post title makes search easier.
Could we just make it mandatory to leave the spoiler tags up until the season is over?
I don't intend to watch any of the new season until it's been fully released (I hate the old cable 1 episode a week crap). So everything will be a spoiler until then.
I may be a minority (or not) but I'm sure there's others like me, who still want to participate here, but don't want the new season ruined.
Me too. I'm intentionally not subscribed to this channel to avoid spoilers as I'm in the middle of a complete series rewatch so I can have everything fresh in my head for this new season.
