FIA asked to grant early F1 debut for Antonelli before 18th birthday
The FIA has been asked to allow Mercedes junior driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli to make his Formula 1 debut before he turns 18.
I hope they don't give permission. I think it is just too early. He hasn't even completed a season in F2, while never even racing in FIA F3.
7 0 ReplyFor the sake of consistency they probably shouldn't grant an exception, but I would prefer if this rule didn't exist at all. Let teams take risks with young drivers, it's not like the grid would be full of 17 year olds if there wasn't an age limit.

I actually dont think the FIA will grant that. Which would mean that Antonelli can debut in August when he turns 18.

Well Sargeant, it was cool to see an American for a bit. Good luck in whatever comes next, mate.
Getting canned after your home race (speculation) would feel like shit.
3 0 ReplyRalf Schumacher, one of the most mediocre drivers in history, said Sargeant didn't deserve a seat in F1. Ralf is representing the kid.
6 0 ReplyTIL. How did that end up? I suppose it doesn’t really matter. He got his shot and he couldn’t perform at the level required. Shrug
