Toyota signs Huawei to help accelerate smart driving development
How will this work in countries that have banned Huawei?
20 0 ReplySeparate hardware/software. Ford for example does this. The infotainment modules shipped in Chinese Fords are completely different, running software developed by a Chinese team.
9 0 ReplyThat makes it okay then, proprietary software that we can't really find out what it does 😑

Will probably depend on if the data stays with Toyota or is shared with Huawei
6 1 ReplyAnd whether governments and politicians trust Toyota to tell — or even know — the truth about where their data lives.
12 0 ReplyIs that the difference? Wasn't Toyota also in the business of selling your driving data to insurance companies?

Can someone explain why huawei is hated but not Facebook and Google ? Aren't they all doing the same thing ?
12 0 Replyfacebook and google are also hated. Just not by the government.
21 0 ReplyFacebook is literally the fifth most hated https://www.axios.com/2023/05/23/corporate-brands-reputation-america
5 0 ReplyIt is McCarthyist western NATO propaganda stemming from a genocidal settler colony called USA. They like to do it to every company that is a threat to their capitalist profits and proxy colonialist ambitions, like Toshiba, Alstom, Huawei, TikTok, IPTN and many others.
7 2 ReplyFacebook and Google are American companies spying on people for the US government. Huawei is a Chinese company spying on people for the Chinese goverment.

Well, there goes Toyota Quality. Looks like they're going full Boeing.
19 10 ReplyIf they signed with GE, Apple or some American company, they would have tanked like Boeing (USA). They want to progress like China, so it is Huawei.

Toyota should sign with someone to help facilitate EV development. Having one model (bZ4X) really isn't all that impressive.
7 0 ReplyAnnouncing stuff is great, but it's not yet 2025.
That also would mark only 2 models, as great as a 100% increase is.

On top of that, the bZ4x is apparently a really shitty car. So on top of only having that one model, it's also a terrible one.
