Doesn’t matter who hosts it. Oracle has no access to the user data. Just because some website is hosted there does not mean that they can see the data.
Despite this, they don't believe tiktok's assurances that the CCP doesn't actually have ready access to the data. However the only evidence they've presented is testimony from a former employee.
I can understand concerns over point #2 here, but #1 and #3 seem wild to me.
Seems fairly arrogant for you to declare that these positions are 'wild' and then expect other people to explain why they're not. Seems like you should be able to justify why those positions are "wild", because they seem perfectly reasonable to me.
Wish we could just implement some form of federal standards that are aimed towards protecting US citizens' data instead of just banning a service like tiktok because "China bad".
Good. I don't use TikTok and never will, but the government shouldn't be able to tell you what kind of speech you listen to, what speech you make, or what platforms you use to communicate it. This is some 1984 shit. Looking forward to Trump banning every app except Truth social because we opened the door to this nonsense and all the other apps are spreading "anti-christian hate speech" or "anti-american-first propaganda". Fuck the CCP. But also fuck the government trying to restrict speech.
Just like to take this opportunity to say fuck the name "ByteDance"
It's a stupid, corporate, "hip" name that needs to fade into obscurity asap. Not crazy about the company either, but the name in particular is just so fucking cringe
