In capitalist America, the military is stationed at public transport networks to search through the belongings of the working class
In capitalist America, in order to go to work every day you have to let the military search through your belongings. Once you pass the military checkpoint you must still be wary because there are police officers disguised as civilians hiding in the crowd.
That's the other thing. Without fail at the start of every year the local media goes on a sensationalist tear about how much crime there is on subways and how much worse it is. Usually they'll throw out percentages like "Oh a 10% increase in assault on the subway". But when they mention actual numbers, as I had last heard a couple weeks ago, we're talking about an increase from 58 to 64. On one of the largest subway systems in the world that moves 3+million people a day. We're talking about an extremely minuscule number, but if you didn't know any better you'd think the subway is an absolute war zone. Maybe put more money into cleaning up the subway and housing the homeless rather than putting more bandaid on the relatively nonexistant issue of violent crime.
Yup reactionaries taking full advantage of the fact there was no crime because everybody who wasn't a stupid asshole was staying home as much as possible so now the pre pandemic crime levels are an epidemic.
The contradictions, folks. They’re sharpening like you wouldn’t believe it. I’ve seen– Nobody understands sharpening contradictions like me, believe me- and Hokey Hochul wants to tell you “they’re gonna keep you safe, they’re gonna keep you safe!” But we know.. Hokey Hochul and the Crooked New York State Dems, they’ll tell you “State sanctioned violence, intimidation, we need it folks.” It’s sad. The Crooked Dems, they’ll tell you. They’re saying “we’re saving you from fascism” but believe me– they’re just as fascist as the republicans. Maybe even more fascist. People are saying “they’re using state violence to fight those opposed to state violence.” and it’s true folks. It’s unbelievable really. Unbelievable. They do it and they don’t even realize it and it sharpens the contradictions. And if they keep sharpening contradictions they’re gonna be big time losers– big time. Believe me. Just like the Czar. Remember the Czar? Huge loser, we all know it. Lenin said “the indissoluble oneness of the tsar and the people and the oneness of the people and the tsar, it’s a load of crap” and he’s right. Just like the Loser Czar, the Crooked New York Dems and Hokey Hochul are saying that their power is representative of the people, not over them.. It’s sad.
Most movies about the near future are simply ridiculous. Like Back to the Future II, which predicted flying cars by 2015, hoverboards, and silly fashions.
Then you have Children of Men, made in 2006 and takes place in 2026. We’re not quite there yet but that movie is basically prophesy come true.
people always forget about soylent green (1973), but it seems pretty prescient too.
"By 2022, the cumulative effects of overpopulation, global warming, and pollution have caused ecocide, leading to severe worldwide shortages of food, water, and housing, bringing human civilization to the brink of collapse. New York City has a population of 40 million, and only the elite can afford spacious apartments, clean water, and natural food in walled-off communities patrolled by armed guards. The homes of the elite are fortified, with moats, security systems, and bodyguards for their tenants...The majority poor live in squalor, haul water from communal spigots, and eat highly processed food wafers made by a single large food processing firm..."
Especially considering some technical brondouchebag read that and went "sounds awesome" now I literally get YouTube adds for soylent to really emphasize how dystopian it is.
Wow… blown away rn. Just looked it up and it’s true. Zero deaths from rabid zombie murder ninjas in the US last year. We need to get these guys on subway patrol asap
Yes, they are. Cops kill over 1000 people every year in the US. We have no idea how many shots are fired, especially when they're popping off because an acorn hit their car or something stupid.
Maybe it's just less interaction with the public idk
LOL. I used to work at a large state air national guard base. The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen is guardsmen, walking back from getting their mcdonalds delivery at the main gate, DRAGGING THE MUZZLES OF THEIR RIFLES ON THE GROUND. Congrats, you've just upgraded from fairly untrained and mostly terrified to completely untrained and completely terrified armed psychos roaming the community. Name something more amerikkkan.
I have a hard time believing that anything in the US is worse than its police. At the very worst, National Guard are just as bad as cops. I could believe that. But worse? Nah.
