The site's already been infected by bots recreating previously upvoted posts with automated ghost accounts. Why not make it even worse?
We're going to have to retvrn to small forums whether we like it or not at this rate. Or we could just keep what we're doing and throw all online communication into the transient void of 🤢 into 🤢 into the transient void of Discord 🤮🤮🤮
God I can't fucking stand Discord. We used to use Teamspeak, Skype, Mumble, Vent, whatever for voice chat and maybe some small-scale comms, but big communities were always on forums, in games, whatever. You'd have to go somewhere that can actually handle a big community to participate with your community. But now they've just jammed these giant communities into fuckin Skype 2 and it does not work
Strong agree. Discord is such shit, I hate it. It can't do what Teamspeak does, it can't do what a forum does, and you're not even allowed to fuss with the ui per their tos (betterdiscord is good)
I'm part of a discord that's mostly irl friends who use it to share memes, personal updates in their lives, hobbies, and sometimes game together. It's a great tool for that
Twitter and reddit both tightened their APIs because they realized the monetary value of the user contributed content. Certainly not that they didn’t want AI to be trained on it, just that they didn’t want to give it away for free.
beep-boop! hello, my good sir. beep beep beep. [racist tirade]. you win the internet for today! updoots to the left. [more racism]. beep-boop slur. so much this!
A Markov bot that posts using exclusively Hexbear posts would be pretty funny. Bonus points if it only uses stuff from the first year, those were fun times :^)
Went to the tech sub to see what people were saying. Only funny thing was someone saying to use burner accounts on "this stupid CCP propaganda machine". They're so close, just gotta remove one word.
Also lol, as if burners matter when 1. reddit cares deeply about tracking users between accounts to protect their precious upvotes and 2. you're still feeding the machine.
I expect this to lead to the end of 'reddit + your question here' on search engines soon enough. Time to break out a huge hdd for that eye redarc and diy.
If you still have your log-in credentials, it might be fun to go through old posts and replace a smattering of them with the text generated output of a Bing search.
