Even old New York was once New Amsterdam. Why they changed it, I can't say. People just liked it better that way!

I have a friend who has a house fairly close to New York City that was built by the Dutch. Just a fun fact.
To second this, Harlem the neighbourhood in New York originates from Haarlem, an actual city near Amsterdam.
But new Amsterdam is gin.
What a waste. To think we could have had a new war of the roses if the New Lancastrians hadn’t ducked out.
