I have been trying to find a reasonably priced hotjo mug for years now in the deep purple color. I saw a bunch of other colors or ones that looked close to the one I wanted but just couldn't find the exact one I wanted. Well, yesterday my wife gave me the best valentines day gift ever! Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a Raktajino to make.

Ah, the HotJo Travel Mug. My favorite tea mug. I had it for years before realizing it was similar (not quite the same) as the ones on DS9. That is a new color they offer. I used to have a black one, but I broke it and dropped it and they don't make those anymore. Then, for a while, they only made white ones. Finally, last year, they made a handful of other colors. I asked and received one of that color by my wife at Christmas. Enjoy yours!

It is slightly different, but that is because the producers contracted HighWave, the makers of HotJo, for a custom version. Unfortunately, it's the closest we can get at the moment. I keep hoping for a special run, maybe for an anniversary. Last year would have been the 30 though.
Close enough for me, especially since it became my favorite mug long before I realized the Star Trek connection. That's just an added cool factor.

Curious to know if there are spillage issues with the wider base.
those triangular-shaped coffee-mugs were really popular for a while in the 80s and 90s as they were supposed to be more difficult to tip over and/or spill the contents when being carried around/jostled. they were especially popular for those who liked to drive with their coffee, until it just became clear that i was simpler to design insulated mugs with lids.
This was my dad's "taking coffee to work" mug. His '83 Volvo didn't have cup holders, but did have a wide flat area between the driver and passenger seat where the parking break was located. I'm sure an after market cup holder could have been arranged but this worked well.
They were so popular that it was one of two options in ceramic mug blanks that we would glaze and kiln for school projects for father's day. We did vases for mother's day.
Quite the opposite. That was the original reason I got mine without realizing it was on DS9. My parents had a similar type of mug they drank tea out of in the 80s that I always liked because it looked like a little nuclear power plant chimney, but they got it because the wide base made it much harder to knock over.
Edit: Theirs looked like one of these, but there were no logos on them.
I totally had one of these for like three days until some asshole at work stole it. Lol.
Honestly these designs are perfect. The long narrow neck makes splashing much less of an issue than a traditional straight walled mug. and the mug also comes with a little plastic insert that you can use to keep it warmer for longer and reduce spillage even more. I never use it but I have a bunch of these mugs and I love them.

This has a rubber pad on the bottom of it so one it is on a desk or table it's not gonna spill unless you really try.
