I want to get better at consuming water and I think my biggest downfall is water quality currently. The water where I live is very hard (and constantly getting polluted thanks 3M) and while I can usually trust what we do at home, there's no way I can trust my work to properly filter the water they provide us. I remember using a filtered water bottle back in high school but I lost that at some point. While I've done some research into what's available results were inconclusive. Any homies got any recommendations for me?
I got a free UV filtered bottle from work one year, and in my experience those things are terrible. Maybe it helped with pathogens, but it did nothing for taste or clarity, and the last thing I need is another device to charge. Unless you’re drinking some naturally sourced (non chlorinated) water that already tastes fine, I can’t see the use for UV.
I have been very happy with everything I’ve owned from Lifestraw though. They’d be my first pick if I really needed an integrated filter.
If you have a desk or locker space at work, you could just bring in a Pur or Brita pitcher and stash it in there to refill a normal bottle from. Pur makes some good filters that are rated for lead. ClearlyFiltered is another step up if you’re worried about things like PFAS (you mentioned 3M, so that’s likely).
Depending on how much you drink, the 64 oz Hydroflasks will likely hold enough water for a shift, and keep it cold all day. That way you know exactly what you’re drinking.
