We don't get you. What do you mean by hiding /r/worldnews? This is not reddit.
/r/worldnews let's you choose topics you don't want to see in the feed, I think it's a combination of css calling Javascript.
Sounds like an idea, but maybe in a few months once things are more solid, but some kind of hashtag filter might work.
