    • Interesting word that, goes back to Proto-Indo European wīrós meaning man. So a werewolf is a manwolf. From the same root we get Latin vir (man) and virtus (manhood, conduct becoming of a man), whence English 'virtue'. And you've got the Germanic word wergeld (manmoney) discussed by Comrade Kropotkin here.
