SquaredCircle's Weekly Pro-Wrestling Discussion Thread! (January 14th, 2023) (Spoilers)

I'll type up a more formal copy/paste intro here for next time, promise lol.

There's a wide world of pro wrestling out there, and we all have thoughts and comments that may not fit elsewhere in threads, and some may be shy to start their own threads, so going forward I think we'll be doing a weekly discussion thread. I'd say daily but we're not that busy yet, and monthly seems too slow so weekly makes the most sense to me.

(As always, do keep discussion of airing/recently aired events in their respective discussion threads per the community rules for 24h and not in this thread. Assuming ya'll like and use this, I'll keep posting em up weekly 3)

Go out of your way to watch NJPW Battle in the Valley. Ospreay/Okada, Mox/Takegi, Giulia/Adora are all bangers.

After the TNA ppv went off the air, I wanted some background noise on. For some reason AWA’s Super Clash 3 from 1988 was in my YouTube recommendations. I’m of the opinion that you can go back and watch older stuff and even love it, but you still won’t have the same love or hate as the people who got to see it at the time. It was for background, anyway, so I thought, why not?
No clue if that show was considered good, meh, or bad back when it happened. But the crowd seemed hot for it. Saw a few familiar faces early in it: Cactus Jack, the Guerreros (especially Hector), Jeff Jarrett, Madusa, and even… Wendi Richter.
There were definitely big “this is so 80s” moments. And I don’t mean just the presentation. It caught me off guard when a woman with a Russian accent was named Terrorist.
I liked that there were quick interviews after the matches, although I didn’t think many of the wrestlers had fantastic promo skills.
Now I’m wondering if fans are more critical toward modern products and just remember the highlights from the past. Lol.

  Definitely are, but also the vocal minority get to be louder now. We're in the age of social media where every numbnut who can rub two brain cells together can spout off opinions like they mean something (yeah I know, pot/kettle lol), and we def look back at things with rose coloured glasses.
  It's like back in the 80's. You go to the movies, you watch the movie. You discuss the movie with some of your friends if they saw it too but otherwise you just ya know..experience it and move on with life. Maybe eventually when the VHS is out ya buy it and on rainy days ya pop one in to watch with the family and kids. Now Generic Film #8274765™ comes out and everyone regardless of if they huff glue or not puts out a podcast/tweet/youtube video/twitch stream/only fans update with their opinion on it ranging from it being the best thing since sliced bread to the worst thing since Hitler lmao.

  Btw, heard anything about possible federation issues? The Collision thread never showed for me and when I brought up Kbin, my comments didn’t show in the Hard to Kill thread and there were some there that didn’t show for me.
