I just have the base, original game on PC, and the energy drinks are just made up generic shit. I have seen the Monster Energy ad (as well as RayBan and other products Sam uses) from the game elsewhere, but always thought it was just a meme.
Kojima is probably the most famous dev in the entire industry. If he needed funding he could have gotten it without inserting advertisements into the game
