This new version introduced a system so that your instance stops sending out content to other instances that are supposedly dead / offline. Unfortunately for some reason there’s false positives. There's been some discussion about the dead instance checker over on !fediverse!fediverse@lemmy.world being a bit overzealous but I didn't see anything here, so I wanted to raise it.
I did some spot checking of the instance table and can confirm that several of the instances with an older updated date were indeed actually up.
Is there a process to undead an instance? I'm just saying that as I wiped my server a few weeks ago and created a new lemmy server from scratch with the same domain/details etc... I'm posting from it now so it kind of works I guess but will I be missing anything?
I'd have to go digging on github but I thought there were going to be periodic checks of the dead hosts in case they came back. Maybe someone else knows?
