Great shot! With that much resolution you could probably crop in a little tighter. Filling the frame with more of your subject will help emphasize how small the bird really is compared to the branch. Plus, more birb is always better.
I like to leave some habitat because I find it adds interest and complexity to a photo. Plus, sometimes the birb no longer appears smol if so focused in the photo! I've gotten more comfortable with even more distant shots of birbs, too--sometimes I can make raptors look illegally smol.
Totally fair! I did a pretty extreme crop on a spider photo I took a few years back, and that started my "fill the frame with the subject" mentality. With respect to the rule of thirds of course. 😅
