What Torrenting program do you use?
Hi, ive been pirating stuff for a bit and I currently use Picotorrent, but I wanted to know what everyone else uses to see if there is a better option.
qBittorrent for over a decade now.
100 0 ReplyI use transmission. M1 compatible, open source and free
32 0 ReplySince I discovered qbittorent, it has been the only thing I use for torrents
28 0 ReplyqBittorrent for me.
28 0 ReplyIf PicoTorrent meets your needs then you're fine, it's a great torrent client.
I tend to use qBittorrent, Deluge, rTorrent/ruTorrent.
Below is the list of desktop/server torrent clients people have mentioned over on the old subreddit.
- BiglyBT
- BitTorrent Classic / uTorrent Classic (current versions are essentially the same client nowadays)
- or uTorrent 2.2.1 (try here)
- BitTorrent Web / uTorrent Web
- Deluge
- Exatorrent
- FrostWire
- JSTorrent
- KTorrent
- PicoTorrent
- Porla
- qBittorrent
- rTorrent
- Tixati
- Transmission
- Tribler
- Vuze
- WebTorrent Desktop
I'll just add that it's best to avoid current versions of BitTorrent/uTorrent/Vuze nowadays. (Vuze users should migrate to BiglyBT)
24 0 ReplyQbittorrent. Before that, uTorrent. Prefer QBT interface. Tried i2p, but too tech-ignorant to make it work.

13 0 ReplyDeluged on my 24/7 running box and the gtk client to connect to it from my main PC.

libretorrent on android
11 1 ReplyqBittorrent + Dracula Theme
10 0 ReplyI've been using Transmission on a headless Debian box running the web UI. Has worked well for me for over a decade.
9 0 ReplyDeluge in a docker container. I run a media server and use the *arr apps to control things and deluge for the torrent app. I have it all behind a VPN. If the VPN goes down the entire network fails and is unable to connect any other way…. I do not trust a Killswitch and never would.
9 0 Replyqbittorrent. Tried i2p, but too tech-ignorant to make it work.

7 0 ReplyTransmission with OpenVPN, using the haugene/transmission-openvpn Docker image.
I mostly torrent via API using Sonarr and Radarr.
7 0 ReplyqBittorrent but sometimes will use Seedr.cc
6 0 ReplyTransmission since you can select files inside a torrent and prioritize them, or choose to not download some files.
6 0 Replyqbittorrent-qt5, the default qt6 toolkit version looks a bit out of place with my Plasma theme.
6 0 ReplyTixati for PC, Transmission for Mac is how I’ve had it for a while. No complaints!
5 0 ReplyKtorrent...on arch linux, btw. Support the KDE desktop! (echoes)
5 0 ReplyqBittorent in a docker. Rock solid.
5 0 ReplyI use rtorrent + Flood. Nice setup if you're using a seedbox or otherwise running your torrents on a server.
5 0 ReplyI was using Transmission on macOS but since I pay for Real Debrid to use it with Stremio, all my torrenting goes through there now.
4 0 ReplyqBittorrent on my Windows boxes, Transmission on my MacBook. Gotta figure out how I'm gonna get my server set up though once I migrate it to openmediavault instead of Windows Server
4 0 ReplyRadarr for movies, sonarr for shows, lidarr for music, nzbget as the downloader using prowlarr to manage my indexers

2 0 ReplyI use a self hosted transmission docker container. The web ui is decent
2 0 ReplyFlud on Mobile and Deluge on PC.
2 0 ReplyLibreTorrent for Android, wince it uses libtorrent library like qBittorrent does
2 1 ReplyMainly LibreTorrent on Android since I only pirate music and anime.
1 0 ReplyTribler.
Tribler is an open source decentralized BitTorrent client which allows anonymous peer-to-peer by default. Tribler is based on the BitTorrent protocol and uses an overlay network for content searching
1 0 Replyaria2, a terminal client because I don’t want to clutter my screen area with apps that have limited U and little interaction with me.
2 1 Replyitorrent
1 0 ReplyReal debrid.
2 1 ReplyuTorrent 2, the last one before the acquisition. Can find it on old software sites
2 1 ReplyrTorrent with the Flood UI.
1 0 Replyqbitorrent, sometimes transmission(like how simple is) and libretorrent for android, libretorrent is so good man.
