Understandable, though. You know people are just plugging station ID sounders into it and expecting information on the last song that played.

I'm not sure I see the connection.
Pixel phones have a feature where they can constantly listen for music and display what the songs that were playing are.
It was my favorite feature about the pixel. It's also a very spooky feature.
I was especially freaked out when I realized it works offline.

That's true for the Always on Display, but via voice commands any Android phone can recognize the now playing song using Assistant.
