I had déjà vu during spez's AMA stating that old Reddit will always exist. He stated the same thing a few years back with third party apps. I don't trust anything that slimy fuck says.
If someone thinks that Lemmy is “full of useless idiot communists”, they’re probably ignorant, argumentative, and more trouble than they’re worth. If/when they grow up, they’re welcome to join us!
It's worse: ignorance is humanity's curse and argumentativeness has its good signs, but assumptiveness is trash on both moral and epistemic levels. And the user in question is being assumptive, as he's vomiting certainty over a group of people who he really don't know.
Another character flaw (yup) that the user is showing is lack of basic reading comprehension. As OP hinted it's that kind of user who should be left behind.
Well, Reddit is known to have a toxic community. I mean, when someone tells about Reddit irl then they get the "you're an idiot" look from strangers. Like, we all know how deeply censored Reddit is. Now it's dead for a slew of people in favor of Lemmy, ain't it nice?
@esty To be fair, the suggestion to use these extensions is good. But I prefer Firefox. It was the only way I could use Reddit. kbin and Lemmy are useable by default, even though it has some problems too. And dense people are everywhere, in Reddit, in Lemmy, in kbin, in Twitter. That does not mean everyone is one. Just the chance to hit an idiot is higher on Reddit and Twitter, because idiots would never consider switching from mainstream and shit on others.
And that's good. Good people switch, idiots stay on Reddit. Best filter ever. :D
If that community will behave similarly before and after using said theme and extension, then maybe it's the community. Great example shown here from the "helper".
Even a small barrier to entry greatly improves the signal to noise ratio in discussions, so I view the (very) minor challenge of getting into the Fediverse to be a much appreciated feature.
Legit though, if you for some reason need to use Reddit on mobile:
Firefox Nightly > unlock the extended addon collection support > create an addon collection with uBlock, res, and Old.reddit redirect > import to Firefox Nightly.
Boom. Old.reddit on the phone, it never ever sends you to the mobile site.
Now mind you, it's a janky user experience using old.reddit on mobile, and they'll sunset old.reddit soon, but if you absolutely need it, there ya go.
